Who are your favourite prospects that still need some time to stew?

On defense, it's probably Laleggia. He's similar to Schultz, but he has a better shot and gained 30lbs through his collegiate career. He's had to work his butt off to get where he is now. I think he can be that PP specialist going forward.

Platzer is another guy who could be very interesting. He could put up some goals with that shot of his. I think he could be called up this season.

I'd have to say Yakimov. I think he has the best chance of making the NHL with his combination of size and skill
I also think Chase could end up being a Marchand for us if everything goes well

Yakimov is a very interesting prospect to me. Could see him being a very good 2-way #3 centre down the road and at 6'5 230 he's already an absolute monster.

Slepyshev is another player that I could see being a useful 2nd/3rd line finisher.

Some others I really like are Pakarinen, Laleggia, Platzer, Chase, and Betker. Could see any of these guys as potential useful bottom 6 forwards/bottom pairing defence men.

Edit: From this years draft I really like Caleb Jones and Ethan Bear. I think they both are long term projects, but have the potential to surprise a lot of people down the road.

I think Yakimov and Musil. I see Yak as a potential Brian Boyle for us, I really like that he came over so early and has been very positive about his time in the AHl.

Musil I have there because I think he falls into that style that is hurt by the new NHL waiver rules. In the past you'd just give the guy a two-way deal at 24 and throw him back into the AHL, but now it becomes an issue with potentially losing the guy. We had a tendency to not risk exposing guys like Musil in the past to waivers. Wish we could go back to the one-way two-way effecting waivers. Guys like Musil were never going to be ready quickly, but by the time he's getting close you start playing the waiver game which could hurt his development.

Also Davidson. Was a long shot at best when drafted. Then he went through the cancer bs. Now who knows. Might only become a #7 that fills in for injuries on a good team, but for a 6th rounder I'll take it.

Anton Slepyshev is the player I am most intrigue with, I feel like he has alot of upside and could most likely play in the top 6.

Every team needs a hard working, good skating, big, mean guy. He is a perfect compliment to the skill and finesse that we have. I see him as guy that they wished Moroz would be when they drafted him in the 2nd round.

Disagree about Musil. He's very close to NHL ready. He's just got limited upside. If he was a Chicago prospect, where they've got a quality veteran defense, he probably plays next season.

It's easily Yak2 for me. You can't teach size (he's already one of the biggest guys around), and he's actually got skill

I like Bogdan as well, and I think he could be our Brian Boyle. As for Khaira, I think there's room for some optimism. He's put in a lot of work and has increased his value since he's been drafted. If he could show some more consistency this year, I'd be happy.

I forget about Slepyshev, but we have a stacked top six, so we'll see what we can do at the AHL level. I don't see him making the roster out of TC.

Betker looks confident, but I'm not sold yet. He and Davidson both have some potential.

Love my Oil Kings so I have to include Griff and LB for sure!

Other than those two I'm really cheering for Yak2, not only because of the Yak to Yak fantasy line I have played out in my head but who wouldn't want a 6"5 230 pound beast that can also chip in offensively? ;)

Probably Yakimov. Hope he can develop into a Zubrus-esque kind of player for the Oilers.

That would be wonderful. You should hear the Toronto local radio stations that believe the Reinhart deal was a disaster for Edmonton.

They're going to sling a lot more mud than usual to take the attention of their impeding trainwreck of a team.

They have two thirds of a second line, a third line, and two fourth lines.

Their D just might be worse than ours.

Bernier regressed badly and is currently unsigned.

They seem obsessed with signing every third liner and role player available in UFA right now.

was pegged as a longterm project and I remember coming away impressed with him after his first development camp. 6'4 212, good skater and good hands. He's coming along and I think he'll surprise some day
