Andrew Ference is a bum.

He's been a sheltered bum in Boston and was an overachieving bum in Calgary.

If you hate the idea of bringing Tom Gilbert back, you'll hate paying Ference more than twice as much as him once you see him in a handful of games here. He's an abomination with the puck and his physical game doesn't nearly make up for his defensive lapses.

And I'm saying this because I know we're going to sign him.

Emery,

Ference

Macarthur, Gordon

Re-sign Jones and that would be a great haul. I just don't want to overpay for marquee players on long term deals. Overpaying to get great role players, like MTL did with Prust, I can handle.

i dont think its a good idea to get too many players all in at once.. i think mact will only sign a couple forwards and mayybe a goalie and make trades throughout the season to fill the rest of the holes once he sees whats going on in TC

the only guys I would target are Morrow and Lapierre, 2 guys with grit who can score. Thomas might like it in canada as well since there is better privacy here.

Eric Nystrom LW 2 years at 2.2 per- perfect fourth liner.
Kyle Wellwood C 2 years at 1.5 per- underrated fourth line centre, good on the dot, hard for checker.
Mikhail Grabovski C 3 years at 2.5 per- fill in at second line centre, till Nuge is back then slides into #3.
Andrew Ference D 2 years at 3.3 per- hard nosed veteran.
Anton Khudobin G 2 years at 2 per- great backup, will push Dubby for #1.

My ideal offseason...

Sign B. Gordon - 3 years 5 million
Sign V. Stalberg - 3 years 8 million
Sign C. MacArthur - 3 years 10 million
Sign Khudobin - 2 years 4 million
E. Nystrom - 2 years 4 million

Trade for Coburn for 2014 2nd Pick and Martin Gernat or David Musil (they're choice)
Trade Hemsky and a 2014 3rd Pick for Z. Smith and 2014 2nd Pick
Trade Horcoff to Detroit for Jordan Tootoo

Resign Gagner 5 years 24 million

That's 8 new faces, 2 new centres, 2 new 2nd/3rd LW with a little size, a back up goalie, a 4th liner, and a ***** disturber.

I'd be very pleased with this summer.

i'd like to see us sign:

boyd gordon for our 4th line C, for around 1.5 million for 2-3 years
macarthur for around 3.5 million for 3-4 years for our 3rd line LW, maybe 2nd live LW depending on paajarvi's development

i don't actually expect either of these two players to sign here though, in fact i'd be shocked if either did

There are actually some solid players available. The question is the price at which they would come.
I won't be surprised to see them go after Gordon, Handzus, Stalberg, Chipchura.

How about Antropov or Ponikarovsky? Both are big men who kind of fell of the map, but might be able to bounce back. Both would come cheap.

Bryz, 1 yr, $5M
MacArthur, 4 yrs, $3M per
Morrow, 3yrs, $4M per

Not what I'd like, but it's my guess.

Nobody except a backup goalie. A good thing because UFAs have rarely worked here.

I'd like Penner and Gilbert back and that's all.

Stalberg is like MPS and Grabo will be a disaster here.
