Curious which top UFA's will be hitting the market. Please comment on the UFAs from your team, as fans generally know best what will happen with their teams players. For example, last summer most Devil fans knew that Severson, Graves, and Wood were all likely not re-signing with the Devils.

Curious what Vegas is going to do.

Hanifin, Marchessault, Stephenson, Mantha, Carrier, Amadio, Martinez all UFAs.
I think they make Hanifin and Marchy work. The others, gone.

Not going through all of the names but here are a few that jump out to me:

Reinhart - Stays
Guentzel - Back to Pittsburgh is my hunch
Stamkos - Stays
Lindholm - Boston
Marchessault - Stays
Carrier - Stays
Monohan - Stays
DeBrusk - Stays
Bertuzzi - Stays
Arvidsson - Stays
Perron - Stays at a reduced price tag

Defensemen
Hanifin - Stays
Montour - Stays
Tanev - Vancouver
Hakanpaa - Stays

You get a stay! You get a stay! Call your mom and ask about a sleep over...why? Because you're staying!

Every guy that isn’t going for an 8 year deal should at least sniff at the market. Lots of teams with space out there.

With the cap going up, I'd suggest tjat the majority hit the market and sign 1 year deals.

Unless I was a MacKinnon or Matthews level player I’d avoid this.

Not prudent to me with how fickle hockey chemistry seems to be. And what’s the real difference in quality of life if you sign 6M for 7 years vs 8M for 7 years? I’d rather have peace of mind in a city of my choosing than risking it for an extra 10-14 mil over 7 years.

Guys like Bertuzzi, Klingberg, E. Lindholm all cautionary tales.

I mean 2 of those are deadline adds, and they added Hertl who will replace either Marchessault or Stephenson. Carrier and Amadio won't be difficult to replace and if they want Martinez to return, he's likely to accept a lesser cap hit.

Slavin - Burns
Orlov - Chatfield
UFA - Morrow/UFA
This is likely the outcome, but…

I won’t be too surprised if they somehow end up keeping one of Pesce/Skjei, with Pesce being the more likely retained. I still don’t know how I feel about top 4 Chatfield.

So much depends on the RFA contracts of Jarvis and Necas. What they do with those 2 will dictate everything else I think.

Honest question here.

Everyone seems to be saying Reinhart stays w/ Florida, and most also have Montour returning. How can they afford to do that? Reinhart is going to cost 10m+, and while the Cats have $20.67m in space currently, that is with only 13 players on the roster (14 if you count Knight, which would also lower the available space by 1.15m).

I don't know what Montour's market value is, but it is high enough that there is no way the Panthers can afford both and still fill out the roster; hell just signing Reinhart would make is extremely difficult to fill out the roster.

If they want to keep Reinhart, who goes? Same question if they want to keep both Reinhart and Montour.

Reinhart - My knee-jerk reaction is to say he stays, but some team might offer him a number that FLA can't match.
Tarasenko - goes
Guentzel - serious question, is he worth the same as Reinhart? A lot depends on how well the team does in the playoffs. if they lose early, he goes.
Teravainen -goes
Stamkos- goes
Lindholm - goes
Stephenson - goes
Marchessault- stays
Carrier- stays
Amadio- stays
Monohan- stays
Toffoli- goes
Henrique- goes
DeBrusk - stays
Duclair - goes
Bertuzzi - goes, unless Leafs go on legendary playoff run that he is a big part of.
Domi - stays for cheap.
Arvidsson- goes
Perron - goes

Defensemen
Hanifin - has to stay, right?
Montour - he stays, Reinhart goes?
DeMelo - who cares
Skjei - goes
Pesce- tough one. Nikishkin having to play another year in Russia leaves them shorthanded.
Tanev - hard to say.
Dillon - stays
Hakanpaa - stays
Roy- ?
Martinez- goes

I think it's unlikely that the Canes let both Guentzel and Teravainen walk. That would leave their top-6 rather thin.

Nikishin is a LHD and doesn't really impact Pesce. Finding an inexpensive defensive RHD to pair with Morrow is probably a larger impact on re-signing their UFA defensemen.

In-market rumblings say the Oilers have already discussed an extension in the 3 mil range with Henrique... but given his so-so at best play so far, I feel they're premature.

Reinhart won't get $10+ million in Florida.
Barkov is at 10, Tkachuk at 9.5
Reinhart will take ~$8.5 x 8yrs with signing bonus money as incentives along with the other checkmarks living/playing in Florida brings.

Only one of Montour or Ekblad is gonna be back for 2024-25. Montour should have tried and sign last July, his market has come down from $6.5+ mil to around $6 mil if he stays in Florida.

Ekblad may be put on trade block just like Huberdeau was, maybe Zito tries to pull off another Tkachuk/Huberdeau deal but on defense. Ekblad be nearing 30 and looking for $7.5 mil or more long term.

Montour would be cheaper and may take less term to stay. He plays most minutes on Florida's defense.
So Ekblad possibly gone this July and Bobrovsky the following offseason + $4 mil or more in cap increases will open a lot of room for more depth/additions on defense and in net.

Where is Carolina, Vegas and Florida going to get all that money?

He's gonna get more than that. So maybe he's the one thats not willing to do it.

LA won't let both Roy and Arvidsson walk. They'll figure it out to keep one of them.
I am not sold, I think they want a legit #1 goalie. Roy is going to get a big deal on the UFA market they likely cant afford.
