News flash, they’re still not drafting or developing well.
Like always, it's a wait and see topic, but this is literally the first year in a very long time where our farm team is surging with our actual prospects leading the charge.

For over a decade this organization's farm system has been coached by someone with very little interest in prioritizing the development of our personnel. Todd Nelson came close, but we're talking about an era where Anton Lander, Magnus Paajarvi and Teemu Hartikainen were our team's most promising young talents.

I have a little more confidence seeing upward trending arrows in the AHL, CHL and overseas.

Lol....

The perimeter player that would have us in the playoffs. Probably be sitting at 17 or 18 goals right now too.

On whose line?
Putting him on a line with Lucic and Drai or Hopkins? Drai or Hopkins would be so exhausted from making up for their winger's incompetence and they'd play so far back in fear of the odd man rush that their production would be cut in half.

When we signed Lucic we were pretty happy. TSN said Lucic contract would suck 4 years in and he got exposed much earlier.
We had to cut some fat for cap space and we traded away a sniper who never fought or bled for the team for a potential 3rd line center in Strome, who didn't put points up, but with Hopkins centering the 3rd line we don't see much more production out of those wingers. Eberle is absolutely useless the puck isn't on his stick in the offensive zone and even then he isn't incredibly useful. I'd sign him for 2M.
We didn’t need to cut fat. We had plenty of cap space available that year. It was a brain dead trade that the hockey world rightly laughed at us for.

You've got amnesia bro.
He's not even most over rated of the millennial era. Never mind all time. Many fans are unaware or chose to forget that Eberle maintained a place in the top thirty scoring wingers in the NHL for his entire time in Edmonton. All seven seasons. He also scored or assisted on very nearly thirty percent of all Oiler goals during his time in Edmonton. Its great to have a McDavid or a Draisaitl who can have a hand in such a high percentage of team goals, but on nights where they aren't on it would be great if this team had a solid secondary scoring machine like Eberle to fall back on. That f***ing asshole Chiarelli just gave him away for nothing. I wish I had amnesia about that.

For the record people EBerle has 12 goals and 24 points and is a team worst -9 on a team among the top of the eastern standings.
Goal and an assist tonight. So you can do some adding to your totals. :D

You're making Dustin Penner sound like Eric Lindros.

I'd hope not, Lowe has long since removed himself from Hockey Ops, it's misplaced hatred and makes us look stupid. The core of the brain trust right now is K. Gretzky, MacTavish, Howson, and possibly Sutter.

So, Lowe wins? :) He said in an interview proudly in 16/17 when the Oilers were doing good that he had a hand in hiring Nicholson and Chia, and the revelations he had that the Oilers needed more D and Lowe was too fixated on forward talent during the Hall rebuild. A shift in plan that Chia was executing perfectly, or so he thought at the time.

But, good for him going deep enough into the shadows that people are now defending him instead of giving him the hate he deserves for continuing to have a hand in setting this org up for failure. Guaranteed he is going to be involved in ensuring the "culture" of the org is safe from the next GM/POHO.

Oh maybe you're right. We traded him a year before we had to.
Maybe it's because he had no goals and only 2 assists and was -6 in 13 playoff games.
Captain clutch INDEED.

Is there a goalie ready to take over the reins? Is there a winger that cannot be contained by the AHL? Who are our blue chippers?

He’s not a top 6 winger based on what exactly? He would be our best winger and it’s not even close.

No, Hopkins and Drai are clearly our best wingers and neither of them should be playing on the 3rd line.
We've got a bunch of bottom 6 NHL level and top 6 AHL level forwards for wingers. That doesn't mean that Eberle is actually a top 6 winger and that doesn't mean that he's worth 1/2 of what he's making.

RNH had zero goals in the playoffs but he stuck around...

Playoff hero Slepyshev isn’t even in the league anymore. Don’t think Letestu is either. Kassian finally woke up out of his 18 month coma...

Almost as if those playoffs weren’t indicative of anything meaningful.

They aren’t natural wingers dude. If this organization had any depth they would all be centering their own lines.
