ok so that is never but one can speculate.

zett, dats, franzen, nyquist, tatar, helm, andersson, alfredsson, miller, abdelkader. that's 10. who are more or less locks. i think weiss will be given chance after olympics and he makes it 11. one more spot, sheahan (my pick as of now), cleary, clendening, bert and co being the competition.

a lot will depend on weiss and if he can play like 2nd line C. if not, will it be franzen, helm, do they split/keep euro twins apart? the last one would make a lot sense as they don't really have good player to play with them. one who has skill, can play net front role and screen the goalie. if they try to keep them together, i'd try alfie there again and/or give sheahan a shot but we'll see.

You have Franzen twice, but no Cleary. Doubleshifting?
I believe Bertuzzi has lost the spot in the lineup.
I think Cleary will get a chance to fight for a spot, but I doubt he earns it no matter what.
I also think That Miller and Andersson will have to fight for the spot.

i have something like this if zett and dats are together.

zett-dats-alfie
franzen-weiss-nyquist
tatar-helm-abby
miller-andy-sheahan?

sheahan with his play could deserve to play higher but with that, more or less every line could be trusted if weiss is alright.

if weiss blows and/or zett and dats would need to be split

sheahan-dats-alfie
franzen-zett-nyquist
tatar-helm-abby
miller-andy-glendening/cleary

i think that brings the best balance. i think sheahan would fit the best with pavel there. 3rd line was great when it was in that form, same with 2nd line.

Don't know about lines when healthy. Roster limits will cause problems so Jurco and Sheahan will probably go down even though how good they are.

But at the playoffs, without roster limits, I think we'll ice the best possible team, when at least Sheahan could be up, replacing Big Bert.

No Cleary, no Sammy, no Bert.
That's the best team for me. Don't care about the lines, they will be very good and deep if those guys are out and all the others are healthy.

They'll give Weiss another shot and if he doesn't work out, he'll shift to either Z or D's wing. However, I think splitting D and Z is the way to go.

What I'd like to see, but realistically this will never happen:

Nyquist - Zetterberg - Franzen
Weiss - Datsyuk - Alfredsson
Tatar - Helm - Jurco
Miller - Andersson - Abdelkader

That leaves Cleary and Bert as the scratches. Sheahan, Glendening back to GR until next year. Emmerton and Eaves waived again.

Kronwall - DeKeyser
Ericsson - Smith
Lashoff - Kindl
Quincey

Howard
Gustavsson

Next year I'd go:

Nyquist - Zetterberg - Franzen
Tatar - Datsyuk - Jurco
Sheahan - Helm - Abdelkader
Miller - Andersson - Glendening
Callahan, Ferraro

With Jarnkrok and Pulkkinen as the call-ups.

Kronwall - DeKeyser
Ericsson - Marchenko
Ouellet - Smith
Almquist

Howard
Mrazek

Means Weiss gets bought-out, Kindl and Lashoff are moved. If they really want to bring Alfredsson back since he's valuable as a RHS on the PP especially, then one of the kids will have to make way.

This will never happen though...

Swap Jurco to Sheahan and we could be very near of the truth.

Took a guess.

FORWARDS
Justin Abdelkader ($1.800m) / Pavel Datsyuk ($6.700m) / Daniel Alfredsson ($3.500m)
Gustav Nyquist ($0.950m) / Henrik Zetterberg ($6.083m) / Johan Franzen ($3.955m)
Tomas Tatar ($0.630m) / Darren Helm ($2.125m) / Stephen Weiss ($4.900m)
Drew Miller ($1.350m) / Riley Sheahan ($0.785m) / Joakim Andersson ($0.733m)
Danny Cleary ($1.750m) / Todd Bertuzzi ($2.075m) /
DEFENSEMEN
Niklas Kronwall ($4.750m) / Jonathan Ericsson ($3.250m)
Danny DeKeyser ($0.925m) / Kyle Quincey ($3.775m)
Jakub Kindl ($2.400m) / Brendan Smith ($1.263m)
Brian Lashoff ($0.725m) /
GOALTENDERS
Jimmy Howard ($5.292m)
Jonas Gustavsson ($1.500m)

Split Z and Pav moved Weiss to wing. Could even swap Weiss with Abby to get Weiss on Pavels wing to get him going. My guess when people start coming back the order of guys sent down will be Jurco, Glendening then Sheahan. This is after Emmerton and Eaves are waived again.

Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Alfredsson
Franzen - Weiss - Nyquist
Sheahan - Helm - Tatar
Miller - Andersson - Abdelkader

Glendening, Jurco back to GR because their is no room at all if everyone is healthy

If weiss is still bad when he returns, then:

Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Alfredsson
Franzen - Helm - Nyquist
Jurco - Sheahan - Tatar
Miller - Andersson - Abdelkader

btw I don't think Z should be playing center with his back problems. A lot less heavylifting for him playing on datsyuk's wing, and still very effective

I do not think Tatar can play with either D or Z at this point, but That might change in a month or two.

Sheahan is a player you want in the playoffs. If we get there..

+1

The 12 guys I want when completely healthy are Z, Datsyuk, Franzen, Nyquist, Alfredsson, Weiss, Helm, Abdelkader, Tatar, Sheahan, Andersson, Miller. I can see several different line combos with them. If Weiss continues to be crap and semi-injured, Jurco is my next guy in.

Those are my twelve, too.

My lines are:

Nyquist-Z-Franzen
Weiss-Datsyuk-Alfie
Tatar-Helm-Abdelkader
Miller-Sheahan-Andersson

That's what I'd go with too.

If, however, Weiss doesn't improve and Franzen struggles a bit I might put him back to centre. He looked good with Nyquist and Tatar at times.

So this could be an option to keep Z and Datsyuk together:

Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Alfredsson
Nyquist-Franzen-Tatar
Weiss-Helm-Abdelkader
Miller-Sheahan-Andersson

I think they find a way to keep Sheahan on the team the rest of the year. Jurco I'm not sure about.

With Jurco

Mule-Z-Nyquist
Weiss-Datsyuk-Alfredsson
Tatar-Sheahan-Jurco
Miller-Helm-Abdelkader

Without Jurco

Mule-Z-Nyquist
Weiss-Datsyuk-Alfredsson
Tatar-Helm-Abdelkader
Miller-Sheahan-Glendening/Cleary

I think we should try Weiss at wing on line 2 or 3 when he's back.

weiss could work with tatar. weiss isn't the type of player who needs the puck. but assuming he's back to his normal self, he'd still be threat to score. so just by focusing on to shut down tatar, you won't shut down his line. what has happened a few times this year.

I'd be cool with

Tatar-Sheahan-Weiss
Gator-Helm-Joker/Miller

Why not those lines what we had on paper at practise season:

Zeta - Dats - Sheahan (replace Bert with Riley, Sheahan looks just a superb net-front player in latest games. 1st round talent, why not straight to 1st line?)
Mule - Weiss - Alfie
Tatar - Andersson - Nyquist (Griffins Championship line)
Miller - Helm - Abdelkader

That's a freaking deep 4-line machine.

I'd like to see Jurco in full time, but realistically they wont play him over miller or Gleanding.

Nyquist Z Franzen ( could put Datsyk at center and franzen center 2nd line)
Weiss Datsyuk Alfie
Tatar Helm Sheahan
Miller Gleanding Abby
extras Cleary Eaves
Waive bertuzzi, send jurco to minors until 1st injury then call up.

I actually like that team quite a bit, though I have concerns with that 2nd line working.

Sheahan seems like the perfect guy to play alongside Pavand Z. He could play the Abdelkader role, but with better finishing ability. And better hands around the net.

Would be worth trying, though I've always been a fan of splitting Pav and Z, and the chemistry of the Mule-Z-Nyquist and Tatar-Sheahan-Jurco lines are pretty hard to deny.
