only 1 goal in his last 10 games to end the regular season
5 goals in 17 playoff games
1 goal so far in 4 games this year.

7 goals in 31 games is pretty shocking for a kid that had 44 last year. only 16points total as well

is he banged up or just on an extended cold streak

hopefully he turns it around because Matthews vs Laine was the next Sid vs OV
Matthews has blown it wide open with 9 goals already this year

Correct me if I am wrong but only one of these two players has actually played games against a team who made the playoff last year, the other one has only played against bottom feeders...

He is stuck with the line combination that he has been the least effective with (by far) since entering the league...

Catch a game and see for yourself. Little will find laine in open ice like once every 10 games while both laine and ehlers are rather weak at the boards... they have different playstyles and dont compliment eachother well at all. Watch all of laines 44 goals last season and see how many are due to little despite playing over half a season together.

Honestly its just lame at this point. Matthews is due for a monster season and is sepparating himself big time no question about it.

Laine should still be able to catch up with his epic streaks but next to little i doubt it. None of his hattricks is with little for a good reason. None of little laine and ehlers should be on the same line in my opinion.

Okay, this is just comical.

It's not that comical.

Laine has scored 7 goals in his last 32 games (playoffs included). In previous 32 games before those games (in which he was mostly centered by Stastny) he scored 25 goals. During that period his shooting was long over 50%, which was then as unsustainable as Matthews S% now.

Such is the game of hockey and changing fortunes. Leafs play a lot better overall game as the whole team than Jets currently.

It's shameful how bad actually. That's comical.

So what you're saying is Laine had more than double the goals than Matthews had points last year? Huh, that's interesting. Thanks for pointing that out OP!

Jets' current situation can be easily figured out by looking at: NHL.com - Stats

1st line doesn't produce and is horrible defensively
2nd line doesn't produce
3rd line doesn't produce
4th line doesn't produce

Defense sucks.

PIM distribution tells the other side of the story.

So, it's not necessarily all upon shoulders of Laine, whom have his own mental curves too that reflect to his performances. Possession -wise he isn't worst part of the team.

NHL's most dysfunctional line (ELL) is back again. Also playing avg. 15:35 per night isn't helping anyone. Maurice must hate him or something while giving him third line minutes. This is a good topic and it can be finally discussed here on the main boards.

Of course we can thank Paul Maurice for giving so much responsibility to CSW which sucks defensively while still chunking 20-24 minutes a night. What has that brought? Too much separation. I mean Laine would start probably score right after they break ELL and put Copp or Roslovic centering. There's proof and sample size on it.

too early still both Matthews and Laine score in bunches like we saw last year i expect things to even out by quarter season mark unless Laine really slumps hard.
