Outside of Percy, none of our prospects are ready to make the jump (guaranteed) so the roster is pretty full right now with place fillers. At the deadline, I could see a bunch of them making their way up.

Regardless of the line combinations, I see organizational depth and player accountability written all over this roster.

Holland, Komorov, Mathias, Arcobello, Splaing and even Winnik can play Center or Wing, which gives this roster some flexibility.

Nobody on this roster should be taking a game off let alone a shift off as Babcock will have the ability to shake things up as he see's fit.

Pain is gain, and there will be plenty of effort this season if these guys want to earn a future pay day and shot in the show.

Hard to predict who will rise from the training camps the way Kozun did last year, so not gonna try, and going with vets.

I think Bozak is staying. As much as he's been vilified, he's actually quite talented as a lunch-box type player, and he has a decent amount of skill. Just YouTube his first NHL goal, as an example.

At $4.2M I can't see the Leafs getting fair return in a trade.

Parenteau IMO is a depth-scoring asset on the 3rd line, but depending on performance will flip-flop with Winnik during the season.

At this point, we're all just assuming that Bozak will be gone.

But we should also be moving JVR too IMO. We've got practically no room for any of the young guys to make the team. There's maybe one spot that will go to one of:

Frattin, Bailey, Hyman, Soshnikov, Brown, Carrik, Leivo, Nylander, etc.

On defense, we could also afford to move one of Polak or Robidas if we move at least one of Phaneuf or Rielly to the right side (preferably Phaneuf).

But I love the direction that management is going with the 1 year contracts.

The one thing that will be interesting is to see what the team looks like after the trade deadline this year. If you guys think this team is bad... wait until you see the post-deadline team where we trade our best performing players and take on other team's worse performing players.

Personally, I think this could be a good team next year. If it's a team full of Winnik's and Santorelli's with Babcock coaching them... we could see our cheap 1 year contracts outplaying their opponents on cushy multi-year, big money, deals. There's enough bodies here to keep everyone working hard and pushing each other for spots.
