Given how Vegas had to retain half for just a single season of Emelin at a similar cost and got a third round pick. I would imagine we’d half to retain the same 50% and all the years he has left would be a negative so we’d likely get even less in a trade to have $2.3 million in wasted cap space for 4 seasons.

1.55M would be the cost of a buyout. Pretty sure Alzner finds a taker at 3M (1.65M held back) even.

How about finally get the team better around him?

Calling your best forward performer for the last half a decade a failure sounds quite dumb to be honest.

Pacioretty has been a good regular season player.

But he's never stepped up his game in the playoffs. He's not like Eller and Subban, those are the kinds of players that fans want: playoff warriors.

Anyone know why Treliving hates him?
There was speculation in some other threads that MB screwed him over at the TDL involving a trade for Pacioretty

Calgary went on to sink at the end of the season and miss the playoffs but haven't seen anything official on it

Maybe that's it.

Would be funny if Treliving was not ignoring him, but just rushing to the bathroom to take a piss.

That's also plausible.

If the ask from LA was Toffoli/Vilardi/1st, I highly doubt Bergevin was serious about trading Pacioretty.

Career Playoff Stats:
Eller: 40 points (23 prior to this season)
Shaw: 35 points

Both have been labelled at one time or another "playoff beasts" because people have short memories.
and because "playoff beasts" is a popular buzzword but without any true meaning save for some extreme exceptions.

Yes, as are expressions like "elite third liner", one of the biggest oxymoron's of them all, right up there with "jumbo shrimp", "clean coal" and "Bergevin smart".

Elite 3rd line C = borderline 2nd line C. Same thing. Elite third liner just means in the top for third liners in the league and capable of replacing a top-6 player at a high level, short term, in case of injury. It's legit and not an oxymoron as you suggest.
