If he gets $6 million for 6 or 7 years the team signing it will regret it IMO.
He should ideally be a second pairing guy who quarterbacks the PP. Just too inconsistent defensively to warrant that kind of term and money.

Oh my god how is $6-7 million winning this poll lol. Would be pissed if my team signed him for more than 4 years at $5m, and even then I wouldn't be a fan of the contract
I agree with you.
But the question is what he would get in free agency. And there’s a few GMs who are always ready to overpay.

I wouldn't want him at that either but I think if he puts up another 50 point season, he will get 6-7. A feat which I believe he will accomplish.

Gardiner is basically a dman version of Kane or JvR in terms of value.
Around the same age, not a top guy on a team but solid secondary player, has some flaws but capable of some solid offense.
On a 5 year deal Gardiner will be worth 7M. More term i think it'll be in the 6-range.
Shattenkirk got 6.65x4 when the cap was 75M. Maybe goes up to ~82M next summer.
So yeah 6-7 is pretty fair to say, depends on the term.

Have you seen what UFAs sign for? There tends to always be one team (probably more) that offer a lot for UFAs.

It would be alright for next year, rielly is rielly and zaitsev has bounced back it seems, but sandin and lily are very raw I would wait at least another year before bringing them up. But they would probably play next year. But still, the defence is very skate the problem out and not psychical at all minus zaitsev.

There’s no way he should be on any teams top pairing. His defensive play is atrocious.
