What if NJ had won the Cup *then* Parise bolted?

Parise has the ability to make players around him better? He didn't turn Miko Koivu or Heatley into studs and I'd say the only player that really misses Parise is Zajac, since they play the same type of game.

Are you kidding man? Miko had 37 points in 48 games...That is the BEST points per game average of his career. And Heatley's 11 goals in 36 games was a better pace than he has had in the last 5 or 6 years...

EDIT...actually it wasn't his best (ppg) but pretty close for Koivu.

Yet, both guys combined have a whopping 1 point in 5 games in the post season with Parise being a -7 and Miko a -6. The regular season doesn't mean anything if you can't produce at the most important time of the year, the playoffs.

That right there is not what I call being a gamebreaker... but maybe we just have a different opinion of the word "gamebreaker" :dunno:

And that brings us back full circle to "What if" :)

Would've = Would HAVE

It does not equal "What If", mr. Grammar Policeman.

And anyway, it would be sure money to bet on the Wild missing the playoffs in an 82-game season.

He needed us and we needed him. I'm glad he's out of the playoffs, but I'm more upset that we weren't in them.

I think the hate for him will only exist to me when we play the Wild, and whenever I think about how terrible the CBA and parity are in this league.

That's not even at all remotely what he's saying. Your speculating. I.e., play the what if game.

CB, you don't really believe that the Wild would've made the playoffs had this been a regular season, do you? :amazed:

They BARELY got in. Had the season been 10 games longer, they would've fallen out.

We don't know that... maybe the teams in front of the Wild would've collapsed or ran into some injuries along the way, who knows.

To speculate that they'd go on a massive losing streak for whatever reason is just turning the argument in your favour whitout any proof. Who's to say they wouldn't of gotten on a huge winning streak?

Anyways, **** Parise and **** the Wild. I'm only concerned about our team and the changes that need to be made this offseason if we don't want to be the laughing stocks of the NHL for handing in a lottery pick in 12 months.

You're playing the 'what if game'. That's all I'm saying. You're misunderstanding.

Honestly I could see them making it still. That division is garbage.

I have no doubt in my mind he'll be booed mercilessly. I remember Nieds night when they had Gomez speak as part the tribute package...

The only boos of the night (and they were deafening.) Gomez left ages ago. In situations like this - time doesn't heal all wounds.

I'll only boo him when we play him. I could care less about Parise now. He made his decision, his Dwayne Wade/Chris Bosh like decision with Suter and it's over. Nothing we can do about it now so there is no reason to keep harping about it. We'd be *****ing about that contact had we signed Parise to it anyway. Maybe this will be a blessing in disguise.

Then I would have laughed even harder at his decision. Leave a cup winner to go to a money printing, player tampering, daddy loving bubble team. The one year RFA deal is still plenty of reason to know he had a plan all along. Less bitter? Sure the cup win would have helped ease the sting but he's still a schmuck.

Exactly this.

Leaving a losing team to chase money is at least reasonable. Leaving a winning team to chase money is the stupiest thing anyone could do, especially after coming out and publicly lying saying that winning is the most important thing to him.

:handclap:

Pretty much how I feel.
Parise's team getting smacked does nothing for me when the Devils didn't even qualify.

I just can't look at him and take anything he says seriously or as genuine, otherwise I don't care at this point

We've got more important things to worry about than a former player on another team

Plot twist. Minny buyouts out Zach and he comes back here to a deal that makes sense (Like a 5/6 year deal)

Nobody in their right mind should want Parise here. He's so overrated it isn't even funny, but then again we're talking about the same people who thought Parise was better than Kovalchuk a year or two ago.

From Todd Cordell's post today :laugh:

But don't worry, Wild fans. The team still has a whopping $9 million to try and significantly improve their roster while somehow trying to retain or replace Cal Clutterbuck, Matt Cullen, Pierre-Marc Bouchard, Jared Spurgeon, Justin Falk and Niklas Backstrom.

At least the Wild still have 12 more years of Parise making over $7.5 million and doing not much of anything in the playoffs.
