Vak, Zboril, and Lauzon aren't gonna live up to the hype. I would bet they don't even score 10 points between themselves.

Perhaps, but they could still be an upgrade defensively over Torey Krug. So if we replace Krug's offense with Hoffman, we can still come out even or ahead this off season.

If the Bruins never traded Lindgren to the Rangers he would have been stuck behind Boston’s LHD and you would be saying the same about him. All 3 of those guys have more potential than Lindgren who is a decent player and no one will know until they get a proper look. I will gladly take that bet.

Since we lost out once again on the marquee free agent what do they do? Most of us on the Bs board are doom and gloom. But I want to see what other fans thinks this team does.

still need some winger help and a LHD.
They may have suffered the biggest in the East. Toronto got better. Buffalo got better. Montreal got better ... Boston gonna be in a dog fight for a playoff spot. Older slower and less depth...

That's exactly what they said last year.

Re-sign DeBrusk, Grzelcyk and Chara and you’re done, no?

Chara is the real wildcard - he’s very old, but still one of the best defensive dmen in the league. If he doesn’t re-sign, the Bruins D takes a major hit.

Grzelcyk for Yandle!
Do it
You want to trade a 26 yr old for a 34 yr old, and take on a over a 6 mil a year contract with 3 years left on it........please reevaluate your proposal........plus Yandle certainly does not address the Bruins need for upfront scoring and physical play.

I do not want to hear about the Jacobs financial issues ,they have screwed the fans of Boston nearly a half century and made a lot of money doing it. Sell the team , it will not break my heart ..........haha maybe we can start a " go fund me page " to buy this team , as you can tell not a fan of this ownership. I also believe Sweeney and Neely should be in the unemployment line..........

Imo, the Bruins is pretty much set already, except for the Chara-slot.

Re-sign DeBrusk and Grzelcyk and there you go.

Marchand - Bergeron - Pastrnak
DeBrusk - Krejci - Craig Smith
Bjork - Coyle - Kase
N.Ritchie - Kuraly - Wagner
(Blidh, Lindholm)

(Chara?) X - McAvoy
Grzelcyk - Carlo
Moore - Clifton
(Lauzon)

Rask
(Halak)

11M in cap space goes to DeBrusk (4-5M) and Grzelcyk (2-3M), then there's ~4M left for the Chara-slot or Chara himself.

Also letting some cap space growing for the deadline, would be smart idea to go.

That team goes nowhere

The Bruins two biggest weaknesses was 5 on 5 scoring and in return relying too much on the PP to win games and being too small and weak on Defence, particularly the left side.

Craig Smith for sure isn’t the sexiest name but he is a top 20 RW in ES goals over the last 3 years.

Krug will be missed on the PP but they have the players to keep it in the top 10 and will be able to free up the rest of the defence not having to massively shelter their second pairing. Most people on this board only look at points and think Krug is a top pairing dman and an elite skater but the truth is he was failing to keep his head above water defensively even with the usage he got, a perfect partner to cover his weaknesses, and elite goaltending behind him. He just doesn’t have the foot speed to overcome his lack of size and to find the space to more effective offensively at 5 on 5.

For next season I don’t see Toronto, Buffalo, or Montreal surpassing that roster. sorry, not sorry.

Boston ownerhas lost money sincehis primary company Delaware north is in the tourism and travel business.

Thus year he might not want to spend to the cap.

Right. Either the Bruins are waiting in the wings and will get some nice pieces in the cheap, or the fact that the parent company makes all its money in food/beverage/travel and has lost billions in revenue means they are done.

The fact that they were in on Hall and OEL makes me think they and looking for cut throat deals. Smith sure was a great deal.

The fact that they didn’t get Schmidt for a 3rd terrifies me that it’s a money thing. Maybe it was a NTC issue?

Sir I believe you are trippin

29 year old undersized PP specialist...............

Certainly not.

I was under the impression LD is a position of need though, and I think the Bruins could’ve gotten him at 6.5M which is pretty reasonable for him based on his point production. And he can eat decent minutes no? Or is he that bad defensively?

I will say that I think losing Krug just made the Bruins window a bit tighter than it was before.

Got to give credit where credit is due, sick burn, don't forget to have them drop the puck back to Chabot if they are double teamed....

Sorry-easy joke. Personally, I think the Bruins will be fine. Don't be the moth to the flame and give out unnecessary contracts to bargain bin players. Phase out Big Z and integrate some youth. Ghost was floated by another poster and he might be a good buy low stop gap to help replace some of Krug's PP offense.

I was against it. I feel some of our top picks who are LHD need to play. Also Krug/Bruins seemed to get messy at the end.

Losing Krug will may hurt the PP but that will be offset by better 5v5, adding Smith, full year of a Healthy Kase.

I believe Krug gave up more PP goals/break aways than anyone else in the league and he was absolutely horrible 5v5

#5 D but one of the best PP specialist in the league.

A part from Bergeron and Krejci the team is young/set for 5-7 years

If we're going into this season with the roster, we HAVE to split up the 1st line if we don't wanna be a typical 1st line team that falls in the 2nd round of the playoffs.

Marchand - Bergeron - XXX
XXX - Krejci - Pastrnak
Debrusk - Coyle XXX
4th liners

The X's can be filled in with Kase, Smith, Bjork, and even Studnicka/Senyshyn.

However, I'd like us to go after Dadonov. I wanted Gustafsson or Schmidt on D, but I guess we're gonna have to rely on Lauzon or Vaakanainen in the top 4.

Do people forget they won the presidents trophy, pretty much ran over up and comers Carolina in the playoffs then got dummied by Tampa, all while missing their #1 goalie?
Bruins will be in fine shape next year.

Everyone wants a shiny new toy, still think they'll be top of the league.... have some younger guys progress and good ol' Craig Smith is a pretty solid signing IMO

That's the problem. We need to be able to make a team that can beat teams like Tampa.
