Yeah these takes seem bad. Cooley would play at Mullett no matter what and he should be more concerned with losing millions for holding out rather than just playing for a team that has a slight chance or relocating.

We know Footprint won't work but you never know, that's an old building. Maybe the NHL could help push the new Suns owner in renovating or looking for a new spot.

They just spent $230 million on a renovation in 2021. That place is tricked out now.

Friedman wonders if the NHL goes to Matt Ishbia, (the new Phoenix Suns owner) if the vote doesn’t pass to see if there’s any possibility of doing something at the basketball arena.
So, I guess that means Friedman doesn't think there's a plan B already in place either. The Coyotes need two things to survive in AZ, an arena and external income to prop up the team. Sharing an arena with the Suns only solves one of these and we'd still be in bad shape. I don't see how any plan that doesn't have external income will keep this team here long term.

Anyways, I'm not too worried about the TED vote. I'll be positive for once and say "we got this," so my plan B concerns won't even matter. I think people are dumb, but most are not quite dumb enough to fall for the "Vote No" groups bullshit. It was immature and off putting, to say the least.

Edit: And why the H isn't sports betting being used to it's fullest potential by AM? It's being ignored mostly, isn't it?

On the latest DFO Rundown, Frank Seravalli says he believes the referendum does not pass, based on him doing his “due diligence”.

I have written here many times that 32 Thoughts, especially Marek, is out to make a hot take that no one else has made. Most are no big deal but fairly often they are outrageous. His best this year was his assertion that if both players end up dropping their gloves and fighting there cannot be an instigator???

I read all of this talk, both sides confident they're gonna win, and there's a line from an old Dire Straits song called 'Industrial Disease' that I keep coming back to:

"Two men say they're Jesus/One of them must be wrong."

Not quite. He said that in “doing his due diligence” the league is not willing to focus on the conversation of “what happens if…?” but then he says “All the speculation I’ve seen points to this referendum not passing”.

So his “due diligence” tells him the league isn’t talking about Plan B. But this idea about the referendum not passing is based on “all the speculation he’s seen” and he even says “depends on who you believe” and “who knows if the polling is accurate or what happens with the mail in ballots from last week” - so he admits to just “seeing” speculation. That means online. Twitter. And he admits he doesn’t even know that there isn’t publicly available polling. And he doesn’t know that there will be no in-person voting.

This boils down to him being a windbag who’s an engagement whore and he hates the Coyotes because trashing them gets him likes. He’s full of crap.

Yeah, you are correct. I went back and had to re-listen. Listening to pods while working can sometimes lead to misinterpretation. I’ll eat this mistake.

Meruelo has his own casino, so he's using his own sportsbook SaharaBets as the "partner". Also, not having the permanent arena in place complicates being able to construct a physical sportsbook in AZ.

Whether AM's long term goal is to try to grow the SaharaBets book or find a different more well known partner is an interesting question.

Red meat for his audience. With the Canadian teams now out of it he's got to throw something at them.

It may be a relief for you to know that too much red meat is one of the main risks for colon cancer.
So there's that.

The Penguin did it. That's a lot of green grass—no wonder the lakes are running dry.

So, what’s it going to look like in terms of getting results in?

At 8pm will they release all of the mail in results? Or is it just going to come in very slowly over several days?

Considering the relatively small number of ballots, I'd think they would all be counted by tomorrow night. But we are talking about Maricopa county.

They'll release all the ballots which have been counted to that point. It won't be 100% of the votes, but I'd expect it will be a large enough % of the ballots to predict the outcome.

Funny. Because there is a popular book series here in germany, about a comunist kangoroo living together with a small artist in berlin, whose neighbor is a penguin. And that penguin is evil and is part of a cabal of penguins that rule the world.
the first book is really funny and basically a collection of short storys. In the later books it begins with the penguin.
