The first line breakup better be short lived. Seems you could randomize the lines and do better than the current ones. Mitchell on the top line? Mackinnon between Tanguay and Iginla. Barf

Though I'm sure since I said this we'll score 8 goals tomorrow.

The 9s needed a break for a while

Yeah but not MacK in the old folks home

Roy is way too in love with Soderberg's line.

What Roy has done is nothing like any of the combinations most people have been wishing for, for a week now.

There is a lot of times like this where we call something a week or two ahead of time before Roy actually makes something resembling the correct adjustment.

Yeah we're fans blah blah, but we're right more than we're wrong as a mass unit on adjustments the team needs to make.

Lindback starting for the Yotes tomorrow?

Not a fan of these lines, oh well hopefully duch/landy dominate enough that Mitchell just has some tap ins, short touches of the puck, and Mack eats up some weaker units.

Those lines?
Really?

Söderberg would probably be a really nice fit between Lando and Dutchy and MacK could be put with Grigs and Comeau leaving the oldies with Mitchell and Martinsen to the 4th with Skille and Wagner/McLeod.

This is a problem, when Roy thinks so highly of Soderberg's line being constructed the way it is with Martinsen hes willing to increase Iginla and Tanguay's role in order to allow it to stay together.

You can't tell me Landeskog - Soda - Comeau/Duchene couldn't go up against top lines with even more success than having Martinsen there.

Saddling MacKinnon with the two old folks is disgusting, it's only tolerable with Mitchell there because he covers so much ice defensively. MacKinnon is not going to do the same thing and produce offensively.

Earlier in the season, the MacKinnon, Iggy, Tanguay line was actually very effective together. Keeping the 9 Line together when they're not producing isn't helpful. Clearly, defenses are pouring everything into stopping them, and it's working. Maybe revisiting the Fathers and Son line will jump start both MacKinnon and Iginla. I'm not so high on Mitchell on the top line, but he is very hot right now and could be helpful as an agitator to free up space for his linemates. As for Soderberg's line, it's hard to deny that they have chemistry together, and although they may not look good on paper they have been making things happen a lot lately.

Now, that still means Grigorenko is wasted on the 4th line and Wagner is wasted as a scratch, but I can at least imagine how these lines would work. Arizona and San Jose should be good tests for them.

Grigs really is not a better option than Wagner as the 4th line center, yet Roy keeps slotting him in there. Skille, Mcleod and Wagner played well together, they were physical and put up goals.

With Grigs in the energy goes down, goal scoring down and the hitting goes down and for the record the face off wins go way down.

No he's not a better option but that's not the point. Wagner should absolutely be the 4th line center. Grigo should be in the third line but one of the retirement home twins needs to be out of the lineup for that to happen.

You realize the 4th line had 3 goals in the last 2 games prior to the Arizona game, right? That's all with Grigorenko centering them.

Wagner should be in the lineup, but not at the expense of Grigorenko.

What is with the Girgorenko hate lately, sheesh... Because the kid does not lay people out, people seem to be down on him.

We should call it Patrick Roy syndrome.

After looking back at the post I agree, 4th line has been the most consistent for a while now. Now if Roy will only play them 12 minutes a night.
