I get what you're saying, but Frank should not be looked at as a backup option right now. If you follow the story, this injury was supposedly different than his last injury in August. Both hampered his game significantly. He has had one quality start in the last year. If he makes it back this season, he's going to be very rusty and it will take a few games to get going.

I don't disagree. The only thing I'm sure about with Francouz is the team knows more about what is going on with him than they are telling us. Their handling of this seems to indicate some level of confidence they'll have Francouz back at some point this season. With the cap situation and the current market finding a permanent reliable solution to backup goaltender is probably difficult. At any rate Sakic still has until the trade deadline to find such a solution if they share the same concern.

I'm just gonna say last night was one of the most dominant performances the Avs have put on in a decade, enjoyable to watch especially against Minny, this team has turned a corner defensively that we haven't seen maybe ever as Avs fans, whatever they said in that player meeting worked because they've been lights out since.

You mean the whole organization isn't completely in the dark too?

Actually, I'm not convinced Joe knows that Francouz has been dealing with knee/hip issues since he was 14, given how blasé he was about a 3G. There's a chance we might actually know more than him. Which obviously shouldn't be the case.

I think Avs should rest Grubauer as much as possible for the rest of the season. It will eventually be Vegas vs Avs anyway, be it in first round or second round. Last seasons events with goaltending was something I really would not like to see again.

I agree with this. I think Gru should start ~65% of the games for the 2nd half of the season.

April is a pretty tough month schedule wise, playing the Blues 5-6 times and Vegas twice. The last two weeks of the season in May will present an optimal opportunity to rest Grubauer though as most games are against SJ.
