@EverettMike You haven't posted in awhile, but now you're going back and liking my posts on the Patriots and Mac 2 years ago and 1 year ago?

Come out, and say hi then.

Both can be true at the moment

I *KNEW* this team was going to fall badly after an unprecedented 20+ year run but I didn't think we would ever see this franchise fall back to where they were in 1969 and 1970 but here we are.

But those awful teams 50 years ago spawned the 1976 Patriots who should have won the Super Bowl

The same thing happened in 1981 when a terrible team would 4 years later make the Super Bowl and it happened again with the bad 1990-91 teams from the Victor Kiam era.

Here is where things will get tricky going forward and aging and mortality enter the picture.

Bob Kraft is 82
Bill Belichick is 71
Jonathan Kraft is 59
Dana Blumberg-Kraft is 48 (She is the joker in the deck)

Another thing that none of us know is how Belichick is dealing with the breakup of his longtime girlfriend Linda Holliday.

Jonathan as the first son should be solidly in place to take over if anything happens to his father but now he has a step-mother............... He can't try to gently tell his Dad it is time to step down because Bob could rewrite his will and then :help:

It has happened before in the NFL

Is Bob Kraft of sound mind? :dunno: I just know if I was a billionaire I wouldn't be going to the Orchids of Asia Day Spa located in a strip mall in Jupiter, FL.

I know there's this idea that Belichick's a dictator that controls everything, but I think there are a lot of signs that he hasn't hired the same quality of support.

Dynasty 1.0 (2000s) was built around veteran coaches, many of whom came from the Parcells coaching tree, and personnel guys from Belichick's time in Cleveland. Dynasty 2.0 (2010s) had a lot of coaches and personnel who developed under Dynasty 1.0. Now take a look a the current staff. Not a single offensive coach has a ring as a coach from one of the 6 Lombardi seasons. They had a huge brain drain when McDaniels took almost the entire offensive staff with him and Fears retired.

I know the talent sucks, and Brady's not here to cover weak spots, but the coaching talent around Belichick isn't anywhere near as good as it used to be. And the reason I mention it is because the position coaches are the ones coaching up players on fundamentals. Belichick organizes it, and I'm sure he'll touch on it in individual moments in practice, but it largely falls on the assistant coaches and it's clear they're failing.

And I think it's worth pointing this out because we saw what this team looked like in 2021, and if you look closely at the offensive talent, it's really not that different. So what's changed? The offensive coaching staff. The current group can't coach them up like they used to, and that's as big as any reason why they're struggling this year.

Someone find me a sportsbook where I can bet on them to lose by exactly 33 next week

Bill hasn't hired the same quality of personnel like he had back in the 2000s because they would question him and Bill doesn't like to have his way of doing things questioned. He wants it his way or the highway. If Bill cared about winning rather than doing things his way, he would put his ego to the side and hire guys like Eric Bienemy and Brian Flores and not have his son making faces on the sidelines for the cameras as the D Coordinator or have bobos like Patricia and Judge involved at all when it comes to running the team. And yet...here we are.

Fitting song for the current state of the Patriots.

My favorite is when he or Rich start with “I didn’t see it, but I was listening in the car.”
Serious question to my Boston area HF brethren…

Why in the name of God do all waste your precious time listening to those useless buffoons?

They aren’t funny, they don’t know sports - almost all of us are more knowledgeable, and they have zero connection to us or where we live. At least Scott Zolak played here and is more of a new englander than a lot of people I know.

They suck. So, what’s the deal, guys?

The morning show has next to no redeeming qualities. I almost never listen, but every once in a while will throw it on out of curiosity.

Zolak is basically a voice of the fans. With my work schedule, I rarely get to listen.

I find Felger and Mazz hilarious. It’s a schtick, and I don’t tune in expecting much of actual value when it comes to the analysis. It’s pure entertainment. A little goes a long way.

I’ll throw NHL network or Catholic radio on as well.

I can’t listen to music constantly like I used to. Sometimes I need a break.

Mac isn’t playing well, but wtf does Fred Toettcher know about football? Him and Shertenlieb can take a flying f*** at a rolling donut. I’m more interested in what people like Scott Zolak have to say. You know, people that actually KNOW the game?

this isnt Tampa Rays, people care and will discuss. Heard all the same stuff when Bloom received criticism by attacking the person making an opinion. At the end of the day, youre not getting away in Boston with last place performances

I’m not sure who else will be available, but I don’t know how I feel about handing the reins over to Mayo. I think I might actually prefer to cut ties completely with anybody associated to the current operation and go completely outside the organization. Bring in a football czar to pick his on field coach and draft his quarterback.

I really like Brian Flores as a coach, but you’re probably right. A new voice is needed.

I think we're in an era where you basically need the head coach to be an offensive coach. I think if any part of the past few seasons is clear, it's that offensive continuity is immensely important, and relying on your defensive head coach to consistently hire good OCs is too much of a gamble.

Just take a look at recent Super Bowl champions. Of the past 9 champions, the only non-offensive head coach is Belichick. In the last 5 Super Bowls, only 1 of the 10 teams didn't have an offensive head coach (again, Belichick).

Another way of putting it is the only defensive minded head coach to win a SB in the last 10 years had TB as their QB.
