The Big Ten West is looking pretty bad, very well could be sending a two loss team or worse to Indy this year to lose again.

The Big Ten in general is horse dung except for Ohio State. Disgraceful showing today and another example on how the league continues to slide. The league's football is becoming more well known for the off field scandals that keep hitting it. In terms of general talent, it's OSU and a bunch of stiffs. Can't tell if PSU is for real, once again they scheduled creampuffs for their non-conf games. It's weird, you'd think they'd want a tough non-league game (esp. given how weak the conference is) to bulk up any potential playoff points, but they haven't played a serious non-conf game in several years.

he could have just run for the first/td. doesn't happen if the dline man doesn't randomly fumble it. Are the Utes footballs coated in cocoa butter for good luck or something?

Penn State was making this current slate of schedules under the assumption they’d be dealing with sanctions & the after effects. They weren’t thinking of playoffs or any of that when they were made.

When the sanctions came off & they got an new AD (along with Franklin’s hire) that essentially wasn’t an interim they started scheduling OOC better games. They have Auburn, Virginia Tech, & West Virginia as future OOC games but schedules are made so far in advance they won’t start playing them until 2020 when they play at VT.

PSU played Notre Dame in 2006 and 2007. Then creampuffs until Alabama in 2010 and 2011. The horror at PSU wasn't even revealed until late 2011 and the NCAA didn't levy its "penalties" until 2012. Several years of scheduling was already in place for this decade. As you said, they're made far in advance.

Besides, VT and WV have averaged 5-6 losses a year for most of this decade. It's not like even those are juggernauts. Better than Coastal Carolina, Akron, and the Kent States of the world I guess.

Not completely happy with the targeting rules, but that hit in the ASU / SDSU game is about as clear of a targeting hit as you can get.

I’m talking about current times not back then, different coaches & AD’s. This current slate when made was under the assumption of sanctions. The Big Ten also went to a 9 game conference schedule from 8 during that time. No one including them thought they would be in the playoff hunt in 2016, 2017, & possibly 2018.

Virginia Tech & West Virginia are solid enough. Virginia Tech had an aging Frank Beamer at the helm for most of this decade. They’ve been a top 25 program under Fuente so far. They got a future series with Texas down the line that’s looking like it’s going to be inked soon too.

Who do you want them to play? Alabama?

San Diego State +6 at home to Arizona State after beating Michigan State with Herm Edwards barely understanding how to get around campus was like the most obvious thing I've ever seen
