So what is the justification of having USC as a "next two out" team? They are going to need Colorado to lose at home to Utah to win their division, are they projecting that happening plus USC beating Washington in Pac-12 title game? Seems quite lofty to expect all of that.

Even so, a 2 loss Ohio St. or Michigan still has a better resume, it's like these guys are just forgetting that the first half of the season still does matter.

The first half of the season often doesn't matter at the end of the rankings. Ohio State got a pass a couple years ago after losing at home to down Virginia Tech team. We got told "it's not the same Ohio State team." And to their credit, it wasn't, but it didn't change the fact that the people ignored that it even happened. And it gets done over and over again.
