Let's see if the Oilers win the draft lottery. If that happens, they are better off holding an auction for it instead of drafting Matthews and may not have to part with the core to land some very useful assets.

i dont know if thats the best solution. we should'nt underestimate the value of the pick for us, no protection needed in an exp draft next year. so i would trade ebs,nuge(in that order) before i touch the pick. and we dont wanna lose a defender next year, so it will be questionable to aquire 2 top 4 rhds this year if we lose one of them or klefbom in a year

You seriously think that pick is gonna get us a franchise defenseman (cuz that's the type of Dman we need if we are going to keep this "core") all by itself?

If you think anything on this roster outside of McDavid will get that defenceman, you are dreaming in technicolour.

The return on that pick unless it is Matthews (in which case you don't trade seeing as he is supposedly better than eichel) and one of hall eberle or nuge is the only offer that's gonna get you that #1 defenseman.

#1D don't get traded. Ever. Take a second an ask yourself why that is.

But by all means, let's keep trading for pardy's, grybas, and clendenings on the back end and hope for different results.
