But the only thing our penalty kill is killing is us.

Special teams is what jumps off the stat sheet again tonight. Power play 0 for 2. Penalty kill allows 2 out of 3. Look no further.

That goal by Neal never should have materialized with that kind of space.

It was Rooney and Zacha up there, someone messed up.

If not for special teams they win in regulation. PK is bleeding goals and the PP is a useless momentum killer.

Even semi competent special teams could cover their other warts until they smooth them out

We are 0-2-2 and bottom in the league in a number of stats. That record would just be more of the same. It wouldn’t be worse. Actually it’s better because we would have actually won a hockey game.

0-2-2 = .250
3-12-3 = .250

6 on 4 mueller can’t let McDavid get behind him to get a stick in the crease unopposed. He was just standing there.

That is bad too. I knew a goal was coming as soon as they drew that stupid trip. Its 100% typical NJD loss in Hynes era.

I was surprised fans were so passive when it was tied 3-3. Lol

except in the latter scenario you’ve already played 22% of the season and you’re probably 10-15 points out of a playoff spot.

this could absolutely, invariably get worse.

It's gonna be lit when some no-name goon from Ottawa gets a hat trick on us in a 7-1 loss. Then we'll really be in full MacLean.

Couple of anecdotes from arena tonight.

Guy behind me in escalator said, "sure as hell had more fun in offseason than the onseason --- bring back July"

There were quite a few oiler jerseys in arena, looked like some large group came for a visit.

Subban was roughing up some guys behind the play (most likely off camera) a few times. Particuarly after palms got run hard...

Simmonds isn't a threat cause there are no shots to tip or bang in a rebound lol. Everyone sees how bad it is and it isn't working at all. Check that, it probably looks good against our PK during practice.

yup...remember all the "pp looks sexy" twitter posts....right.

Back from the game.

We had this game, like gm 1. 2nd and 3rd period we were taking the play more frequently to oilers end.

Stupid penalty, stupid goal call, i thought I heard whistle from within arena. Typical NJ loss, right at the clutches of victory (OT was tilted to NJ side).

Need Nico in SO, try Zacha also.

Hughes looked good for a few shifts in 2nd was it, or 1st, but not necessarily noticiable heavily elsewhere.

Feels bad man, another loss deja vu to game 1.

2 points in 4 games isnt so bad though, but we need a real win, close out games for Almightys sake.

Too many missed opportunities.

Isn't that 2 points out of a possible 8, though?

Sounds much worse if you put it this way.

So...it IS bad after all. :(

Bratt has to be used in the shootout.

Has Bratt even scored in the SO since his first goal? Think he’s 1-7, not that great

Nah. @Bleedred was correct.

Bratt only has one go-to move in the shootout and he hasn't been successful with it ever since the first time he tried it. :p:

I mean, relative to how empty you feel, leaving the arena on game 1 and this one... still got something out of it. I'm trying to find silver linings.... you're not helping this....

Why is the Florida game in the afternoon on a Monday?

Columbus Day, except now most companies don't have that day off as its not PC. My workplace treats this day as a legit work day, but I may WFH that day. Kids out of school, so I have an excuse to take 'em to a game...

Sorry but this entire week and a half has not been fun at all.

Maybe if we had held on and won in Game 1, I would also be looking for silver linings like you are......
