They were in our zone more than we were in theirs. Their breakouts were better and they were moving through the neutral zone better. We collapsed and held them to the perimeter in our zone. They controlled the play regardless of how ineffective they were in our zone.

that sentance right there shows you they werent controlling play by definition.

Shot attempts favored Vegas, but not 2-1... probably more like say 25-20. His observation is not entirely wrong at it's core. Vegas, and the Vegas defense, has been much better at quickly disrupting the Wild's forecheck and breaking out cleanly in the defensive zone (a lot of it is due to Fleury playing the puck a ton and really well), and also are much more aggressive against the Wild at disrupting the Wild at their own blueline and the neutral zone and preventing them from being able to enter the offensive zone or even through the neutral zone with speed and possession.

The Wild are playing much more conservatively and sinking their D back to defend their own blue line and keeping Vegas D wide and choosing to live to fight another day with a lot of aerial flips out of the D-zone into the neutral zone and to try to capitalize off Vegas mistakes and not let them get into high danger areas without a lot of traffic around them or get odd man rushes.

I was simply providing the easily accessible information rather than having people guess.

The o-zone time for the first two periods was
heavily tilted in Vegas favor in my eyes....I could be off there but as far as I could tell they did a much better job exiting their zone and getting through the neutral zone. The only thing that saved the Wild was luck or Vegas lack there of. I’ll bet shot attempts were two to one for Vegas through the first 40 minutes. Not how I’d draw it up
Notice how when the Wild scored first it opened up the neutral zone a bit though.

I don't count good goaltending as "luck", especially when you can count the number of their good chances on basically one hand.

Since you seem to be so stuck on shot attempts and all that, do you know how many games in the regular season the Wild had a > 50% CF%? f*** it, I will tell you. It was 12 of 56 games. (4 games were exactly 50%.) There was one game where our CF% was 28.9 and we won that game 2-0. This team is not constructed to play the same game Vegas or Colorado plays. We don't smother you with possession, like you said, we defend well and we limit high danger scoring chances. Do you know who lead the league in HDCA this season? Minnesota. Combine that with the highest regular season 5v5 shooting percentage, and here we are.

Of the 6 games in this series, here is MN's CF%s

59.4
53.4
51.7
40.6 (X)
38.7 (X)
30.8 (X)

Which three are the wins?

I understand all that ....I just feel playing the Knights with our game 1 approach vs our game 6 approach would yield better dividends if we are able to move forward and face the Avs. Also game 1 was by far our best performance and game 2 was right behind it. we had absolutely no business winning game 5.

I guess to my eye game 1 felt like the Wild traded periods of control all game and we’re faster looking. Game 6 looked the exact opposite to me.

the center play from granlund is better than 75% on the wild’s centers. But he’s a winger so shhhhhh

Coincidentally, 75% of our centers have no business being anything close to a top 6 center, and 33% of that 75% aren't even centers. So when you're talking about him being better than 75% of our centers, the bar is literally on the floor. But I get what you're saying.
