Big Game Story: WCSF’s Round 2. Look out, because The defending Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings appear to be rolling again, and goalie Jonathan Quick has rediscovered his Conn Smythe form. In the first round, the Los Angeles Kings had to rally from a 2-0 deficit to advance. Now they're in position to do what the 2012 championship team did for four consecutive rounds -- jump out to a 3-0 series lead, if they can defeat the San Jose Sharks at HP Pavilion. The Kings have won six in a row following their stunning 4-3 come-from-behind victory on Thursday. KINGS need to remind SHARKS, KINGS FANS and THEMSELVES which team just won a Stanley Cup Championship. GO KINGS GO !!!

QuotesAWAY3_zps8c409eb7.png
Forward & Team Captain DUSTIN BROWN said:
"I've said this before, experience is one thing and it's another thing to have all that experience together as a group of guys, because that goes a long way when you get yourself in a hole, we didn't play a great game tonight, but we found a way to win and that's the important thing. We've got to get back to playing our game if we want to continue to have success against the Sharks." (On being up two-nothing in the series) …“It’s a big win, the way we did it. It’s not how you want to do it, but again, it’s a huge thing holding home ice. Now we’ve got to go into their building, which they play very well in. They have very much the same atmosphere that we have down here. So it’s about getting prepared and mentally ready to go to do the right things to give ourselves a chance in their building because they protect their home ice pretty well.”
Forward & Alt Captain ANZE KOPITAR said:
"It was one of those games where we weren't as sharp as we wanted to be, but in the end, we pulled it off, sometimes that happens, but we realize we've got to play better." (On Injury in 3rd) …“As Darryl said, well there goes my modeling career for Best looking Slovenian athlete … I think that ship has sailed a long time ago.”
Rookie Forward TYLER TOFFOLI on Victory: said:
"It’s huge. Leaving here up two-nothing is a lot sweeter than going into San Jose one-one. They’re a hard team to play in their building, so it was big. It was a huge game.” (On his play) … “I was just trying to play my hardest. I was put in a big role, and it was huge. I just wanted to go and continue working hard and keep getting pucks to the net and creating chances. We got a good bounce there and Lewie put it in. I don’t think it really matters how much ice time I’m getting. It’s just helping the team in whatever role I’m being put in. Tonight I got a lot of minutes, a lot more than I’m used to, so I just kind of take it all in and played the best I could."
Head coach DARRYL SUTTER on Game: said:
"We've had that experience this playoff already. I mean, we were down 2-0 in the last series. We were out of the series, we were down 2-0 early in Game 4. We were out of the game. That's what playoffs are about. It's sort of frustrating to answer those questions, quite honestly, because our playoffs are four out of seven series, which means generally, when you break it down, every series goes six games, which means somebody wins four and if you do your math, somebody loses two. You don't win every period, you don't win every shift, and you don't win every game.” (On the Sharks looking to “figure out” Quick) … “Well, last series everybody said they’d figured him out."

2013WCQFScheduleRnd1_zps726fd35c.png

NOTE : Regarding LARGE SIZE IMAGES / YELLOW RE-SIZE IMAGE BARS ABOVE PICS, let me offer up one nice little suggestion ...
This will get rid of those pesky yellow resize bars over the top of some larger pictures ... as they annoy the hell out of me and maybe they do you also ?
- Go into/click on your "USER CP" {control Panel} up top left in the red bars
- on the left under 'Settings & Options' click on "Edit Options"
- scroll down to 'Thread Display Options', and then 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- click on the 'Drop Down List Box' over on the Right of 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- select it to "KEEP ORIGINAL SIZE"
- SAVE your selections !
There ... now don't that look MUCH BETTER

It was reported earlier that Clifford was practicing and and in a contact jersey.

That apparently was erroneous information. Here is the link where Sutter is saying "he doesn't know" whether Clifford will make the trip to San José.

“Cliffy is skating with the [Black Aces] now because he can’t have contact,” Darryl Sutter said on Friday.

On whether Clifford would travel to San Jose, Sutter didn’t tip his hand. “I don’t know,” he said.

Figuring out Quick= pinpoint passing and/or getting enough traffic in front of him that he can't see the puck. I pulled this vital information out of the "How to score on any elite goalie EVER" handbook.

True enough.

You might want to add having your fourth-line center man blocking the goal mouth behind him, thereby limiting his mobility and ability to find the puck.

Not really, Kings just need a split period, SJ winning game three is not a big deal.

Game Four is more important, SJ is going to play the game of their life Game three, you almost can't expect to win that game.

Bounces will probably determine the game. Or goalies.

You almost can't expect to, but imagine how good it will feel if we do

I'm feeling good about game 3. The pressure is off of us, because as you said, SJ is basically playing for the series, and we have the luxury of aiming for one out of two to stay comfortable. The added pressure for them could induce choking- not that Sharks are prone to that or anything :sarcasm:

At the end of the day, we will be facing a strong team, in their house where they have had much success, but (call me optimistic if you like) we are seeing a strong Kings team lately. A team who finds ways to win, pulls together to come out ahead. I don't expect that to change because of the building we are in.

I have no doubt it will be a hard fought game by both sides. I'm looking forward to watching the puck drop and seeing if our Kings can pull off another.

Go Kings Go!!!

Well the Kings should not only focus on game 3, but focus on the start and then shift by shift. Minute by minute. Period by period. Then I think they will have a very good chance.

You should ask SJ how important this game is.....think they would feel good about going down 3-0?

love Sutter.

Sutter on Teams figuring out Quick "You said that last series".

Remember last year when all the announcers kept saying 'you gotta shoot high on him, he leaves so much space up top.' Everyone thinks they have the magical key that will turn Quick into an average goaltender.

Truth is, yeah you can beat Quick. He trusts his defenders so if they aren't doing their job, you can get past him. But I feel like if the defense does what it's supposed to do (And doesn't stand behind him in the crease) Quick is going to beat you.

But people treat him like he's Harry Potter or something. 'How is he stopping all these pucks? It must be magic! We must find his weak point!' He's just an elite goaltender, people. There's no smoke and mirrors. Anyway, good luck to Quick and the Kings tonight. Let's go up 3-0 on these guys.

True enough.

You might want to add having your fourth-line center man blocking the goal mouth behind him, thereby limiting his mobility and ability to find the puck.

What, nobody's said "shoot high!" yet?

Let's see if our boys remember how to start a series 3-0 again.

I watched Todd McLellan's post game press conference and he said what he liked best about his team's performance was that they got to Quick for 3 goals, but then he said when you get 3 on the Kings you had better win. He is right.

Quick may not give up 3 goals in a game again in this series.

Now's not the time to look past game 3, just get the job done and steal this one in their own barn. Do it.

As fans, we can do whatever we want...we are just hoping the players are not looking past game 3.

The players always say they are only concentrating one game at a time, but they are only human. They consistently played bad games 4 in every series last season...they were up 3-0 in each case and probably did not give their all...as I said, players are human also.

So if they do go up 3-0 here I expect the Kings to take a beating in game 4. But that's just me.

Except Quick is 2-0 when he gives up 3 goals this year. The key to beating Quick is limiting the Kings to 1 goal or less.

Not really. As I wrote elsewhere, Wilson made a mistake bringing in that miserable excuse for a human being to an otherwise respectable franchise.

Now, he has to defend his mistake. At least, that is the course of action he has chosen. It's the wrong course, obviously...I would just dump the a-hole, but he made his bed, and now has chosen to lie in it, dirty sheets and all.

Time for the Kings to step on the Sharks' neck. Quick flips the switch, Kings 2, Sharks 1.
