Teemu Selanne came out and said that out of that big 3 Finnish prospects that he thought Sebastian Aho the last drafted would be the best player out of him, Poolparty and Laine. 3 seasons in do you agree? I remember when Selanne siad it i was like.. well he knows way better than us.. Point of this thread. i donno Aho rules. Why was Aho drafted last?

Seems obvious.

People on here love "goalz" but watch Laine play and then watch Aho play, you'll see who impacts the game more.

Was this obviously true when they were teenage kids on the same line together, and Aho was actually a year older than the rest?

I’m honestly asking because I never watched them together.

I would have no idea. But having watched tons of their pro games, Aho is just far far superior. Maybe that changes, maybe that doesn't. But Aho being a C and elite defensively while outscoring Laine, its not close as of now.

Really don't get how Aho went 2nd round, wasn't even like he blew up late, i remember people saying how good he was gonna be just a few weeks after his draft.

Teemu Selanne enjoying role with Team Finland

NHL.com:
We have talked so much about the younger players on the team, but Sebastian Aho has been forgotten a little bit because he appears to the No. 13 forward. Have you seen him play? And what are your thoughts on him?
Selanne: I was here for the [2016] World Juniors, and if somebody said he was the best player for Finland in the tournament, it was pretty close. He was unbelievable. Same thing in the Finnish League. He was actually a better player than Laine or [Jesse] Puljujarvi. I'm expecting he is going to be really good hockey player anywhere he plays. [Tuesday] in practice he was playing defense, and if you didn't know he was a forward you would say, wow, he's a good defenseman.

Aho wasn't drafted last. He was drafted first out of those three. In fact he was drafted a whole year earlier....

Aho wasn't drafted the same year as Puljujarvi and Laine so I think your recollection is a bit off. Would be odd for Selanne to be asked about Laine and Puljujarvi on their draft day only to bring up Aho.

This season at least it was Aho >> Laine >>> Puljujarvi
I think Laine in theory can catch up although the ship has probably sailed on Puljujarvi

I think it was Todd Button who said Aho could be the steal of the draft, Flames had him as a mid 1st rounder, Rangers were high on him as well.

My Finnish friend Juha said that Kakko is "an asshole, but in a healthy way". Not sure what that means but based on his highlight reel and interviews I'd say that he's a confident fella and knows what he's capable of. Brings character and a winning attitude.

He didn't put up that crazy numbers during his draft year. 35th is a bit low but justified imo. By 2016 wjc I think it was obvious that he was going to be a great player though, and also most people thought he was much more of a safe bet than Pulju and pretty even with Laine when it comes to growing into a successful nhl player. Media just focused their energy on the two guys about to get drafted in the top-3 that year.
