wow didn't see that coming, even though there was rumors. I'm a bit worried about the team defensively (like last year) but we could be a powerhouse offensively. I think we should go offense all the way then and see how it goes. Next management/coaching will probably go a different route

I'd put Giroux with the 2 kids, which will help them greatly. Tkachuk-Stutzle and Norris-Batherson are the duos. Tkachuk-Stutzle have to take their game to the next level and carry Tarasenko defensively

Tkachuk - Stützle - Tarasenko
Kubalik - Norris - Batherson
Greig - Pinto - Giroux
Joseph - Kastelic - MacEwen
Kelly

Chabot - Chychrun
Sanderson - Hamonic
Brännström - Zub
JBD

Forsberg
Korpisalo

Imagine going with him at the Casino lol

Who in their right mind puts Hamonic on the 2nd pairing?

I'm surprised Tarasenko would sign a 1 year contract. Glad it worked out.
If he plays in PP1 and gets consistent top6 minutes, it’s possible he puts up 70pts and cash out on FA when the cap goes up.

Win win for sens and Vlad

Best outcome, he loves it here, performs well, team goes deep in the playoffs, sees a legitimate shot at another cup, and extends.

Well, with Norris, it would be DeBrincat + Batherson to Kubalik + Tarasenko + Norris which is pretty good.

Yeah our hope is to have Norris and Chychrun all season, plus no injuries to all key players and some progression from the younger players

Nothing to dislike here. We turned dbc's 8 million into Tarasenko and Kubalik without getting hampered by term. No complaints!

It's better to have DeBrincat taking one spot than those guys taking 2 spots but considering our lack our depth at forward, this really helps. However both are UFA at the end of the season but that's 7.5 AAV off the books to make a big acquisition. Not sure who'll make it to UFA but there's a lot of interesting forwards, like a LOT

Maybe they just waive Joseph and send him down, even though he’s good defensive player. Is Andlauer ok paying someone that much to plain Belleville?

Also, we’re losing some quality Pk guys.

This article reads like Dorion wrote it himself so Andlauer can take note.

Regardless, great signing.

Edit: hmm I guess I was actually talking about this other article:

What an odd article. In the first line he says the Sens signed Tarasenko, then in the next sentence he basically repeats that Dorion signed Tarasenko, after the reference to Giroux last summer.

Also: "The Ottawa Senators announced today that they have signed forward, Vladimir Tarasenko to a one-year deal." No need for a comma after "forward."

And: "The 11-year veteran has seen it all in his career scoring 270 goals while adding 304 helpers for 574 total points across 675 career games." Comma after "career" is needed.

And: "With his scoring touch and the way this team has gelled, don't be surprised to see him put up big numbers in a Senators jersey. As we saw last season with Giroux who set a career high in goals in his first season with the Senators."

Should be "With his scoring touch, and the way this team has gelled, don't be surprised to see him put up big numbers in a Senators jersey - as we saw last season with Giroux, who set a career high in goals in his first season with the Senators."

Do they let anyone write for NHL.com these days?

One year, good.

$5 mil and NMC, bad.

Not judging until the other shoe is dropped. Who and what are we moving to fit him under the cap? And if we have to attach a 1st or Greig/Kleven to move Joseph, or we move Brann, then I will not be happy.

I think if that was their only plan to make this work it just wouldn't have happened.

Dorion can't be that near sighted. I hope.

Hard to believe they’d rather do that than just bury Joseph in Belleville for the year.

1 year full NTC won't mean much. If the Sens are out of it , I'm sure Tarasenko will be ok going to a playoff team. He could possibly balk at a couple.

They wont have to attach Greig or Kleven or a 1st to move Joseph.

If they can use Brannstrom + a pick to move Joseph.. they can move Kleven up and have enough to add someone else

Do you remember when we traded away 2010 1st Rd (16th overall) pick for David Rundblad?

We could have just kept that pick..

Turris was a pretty good 2-way center until the injury vs the Islanders derailed his career, sort of like Norris (not as good but not that far vs the era when scoring was way less than today)

Who in their right mind puts Hamonic on the 2nd pairing?

DJ Smith? I mean that's where Hamonic played all season last year...

But seriously, I meant to put JBD in there... I posted this earlier in the line combos thread :

Chabot - Chychrun
Sanderson - JBD
Brännström - Zub
Hamonic

Need to mention this or it'll get bashed : of course Zub would end up with more TOI than JBD. This is just the pairings at ES, Brannstrom and Zub are pretty good together, more than with anyone else

But DJ is going to have Hamonic in every game so moot point

Nooooo fffff-ingg wayy!

Congratulations to that random twitter guy who called it. This makes up for a lot. A lot.

Tarasenko + Kubalik + likely lower 1st >>> Debrincat. The team suddenly looks big, balanced and deadly. Very exciting. Good job Pierre!

Tarasenko - Stützle - Giroux
Tkachuk - Norris - Batherson
Kubalik - Pinto - Sokolov
Joseph - Kastelic - MacEwan
Kelly/Greig

Chabot - Zub
Chuchrun - Brännström
Sanderson - Hamonic
Kleven/JBD

having a good 4th line is important. that 4th line is by far the worst in the league.
