Nikita Nesterov who's these days making his living with CSKA in the KHL called Kravtsov "a clown" for taking advantage of the "KHL clause" in the middle of the season, when he was invited to be a guess on a hockey podcast. The only thing is does Brooks have enough leaguewide sources to say this? He's probably talked to a few, maybe put some feelers out there.
Obviously you have to roundabout it, but you could get him into the states (RUS to MEX to US). This isn't how things were during WWII where you were rounding up anyone Japanese and putting them in camp. You have to be pretty connected there to not really be able to move freely in the US.
I think someone takes the plunge. Anaheim is the spot for him in a deal around Rakell. Verbeek was under Yzerman and while Anaheim traditionally stayed away from Russian players, I don't think he'd adverse to it.

In what way? Nesterov himself gave it a fair shot and after not succeeding - turned to the KHL as his full time option.
