Hi hockey fam

I'm heading to LV this weekend for my first time, but I need to watch my Pens in the playoffs. I was wondering if there were any good places to watch hockey that's near the strip? Might be willing to go outside Vegas if there are other spots to watch the games in a little more peace.

Thanks!

Probably every hotel sports book.

Yeah, the sports books might have the games. You've got to remember that they'll show the games that they've got the most action on, hockey usually doesn't fit the bill.

Any of the locals casinos will have a sports book with a desk and personal TV, I'd try for one of those. Otherwise, you should be able to jump into any normal bar and get the channel changed to whatever you'd like to see, assuming it's not too packed in there.

I don't ever hang out in the sports books but they look pretty huge. Given that there are never than many NHL playoff games on at one time don't you think all playoff games will be on a TV pretty much in any sports book?

It's all about sound and real estate.

They'll have the game up for sure, it will just be on a smaller screen and without sound.

Outside Vegas would be Los Angeles. ;):sarcasm:

Try Lagasse's Stadium or Beerhaus to watch the games. Both are on the strip. Beerhaus is next to the TMobile Arena.

You might get a good seat at the Westgate. Their new book is even bigger than it used to be and you could probably get a private desk/Tv. Check the NBA playoff schedule. That'll give you an idea if you get sound or not.

what are some hidden gem restaurants? Not $$$$, but like diner, drive in's, and dives style...

Herbs and Rye on Sahara between Valley View and Arville, they've got a lot of their entrees half off during happy hour, which I think is between 5-8 and 11-1. This place is not really a dump, but it's in a crap neighborhood kind of close to the Strip.

Also, the two places I mention in the OP are great little divey places with good food.

Also, if you like Thai food. Lotus of Siam (also on Sahara in between Paradise and Maryland Parkway) is amazing. The shopping center is super sketchy looking, but isn't too bad. Make sure you make a reservation.

Cornish Pasty Co. in the Arts District at Charleston and Main is also pretty awesome.

All of these places are in weird/sketchy areas with good food.

I prefer Mary's Hash House on Decatur and Sahara for breakfast. Mismatch plates and furniture, but the food is good.

Heading the Vegas in a few weeks.

What is the best BBQ place around? Best Breakfast place? Is it worth it to travel out to Summerlin?

Best BBQ in my opinion is Rollin Smoke. They're in a weird place under a bridge somewhat near the strip. They also opened a place near Summerlin.

My favorite breakfast on the Strip is the Peppermill. Mon Ami Gabi for brunch/Bloody Mary.

Summerlin is just a suburban area. If you want to see Red Rock or the practice facility it's not a long drive from the tourist areas. Otherwise, it's just a neighborhood.

I heard there a couple good hikes there... my Friend and I are big poker fans and he says he wants to check out the area where they all live in Vegas.. but I don't really care that much.

I've heard good things about Ellis Island it good?

Ellis Island is a good place to go for cheap (by Vegas standards)drinks & decent food. It's low key & a little off the strip, but not too far. Close to the Link/High Roller.

We go for the BBQ...it's only Ribs and Chicken. I'm a big fan of their Ribs. Get a players club card and you'll get a discount.
