There is no way the Islanders should pass on Lazar for erne. Erne is a good prospect but is still very raw in his own zone. Lazar is more complete imo at least.
Fair enough, I knew it seemed a little off. That being said how do you rate the forwards. Although Erne is big, projecting him to be the future on Tavares' wing is pre mature for any prospect not named Mac or Drouin IMO.Three things:
1. The pick was made over a month ago, and prospect rankings become a lot clearer as fans of teams eliminated from the playoffs start to obsess over who they want in the next draft.
2. I'm picking 20th in this draft when the Islanders pick 15th. If the board fell the way it did and I had the 15th, I'd probably want Domi over Erne and Lazar.
3. Even if we end up with Erne, he fits a massive need in our organization: a strong, intimidating power forward with top-line potential to protect Tavares and help him offensively.
Brenden, a fifth round pick of the Islanders in the 2011 draft, chose to reenter the draft this year, believing he'd go higher this time around. We still think Kichton is an intriguing prospect and don't mind using a seventh round pick to keep him under the umbrella of the Islanders organization.
With the 201st pick in the draft, the New York Islanders are proud to select, from the Spokane Chiefs of the Western Hockey League, defenseman Brenden Kichton.
