Velociraptor's Annual Mock Draft - 2013 - Drafting Thread

RULES:

ON THE CLOCK: Los Angeles (RR) until May 15th, 9:03AM EST

1. 1 team per poster, and you must have 500 posts to your credibility, 300 if registered user. (**NOTE** If you can promise me that you will stay active throughout the entire duration of this draft, I will let you participate, but you will be on a shorter leash than other GM's, because usually some newer HF members tend to lose interest or disappear, we want to keep this to a minimum.)
2. Standard draft board, seven rounds, two hundred and ten selections
3. There is no trading involved this year.
4. We will be following a 8 hour clock, if you miss your turn you are skipped, you will be given an additional 12 hours to make that pick while the draft resumes. If you fail to make a selection in this time window, you will be assigned a consensus selection (best player available) by me or another GM, it will need to be confirmed by one other manager. If it is a recurring incident (without an excuse) I have no choice but to kick you from the draft. We want to keep this at a fast & fun pace so we all get our share of drafting. I will consider having a window overnight (something like 12AM-6AM ET) where the clock stops, but I will have to shorten the clock because we have about two months to draft 210 players.
5. Drafting from the 2013 Entry Draft Class (Jones, MacKinnon, etc.)
6. The order will be picked from the NHL standings to the night prior to start time, this means you have to consider potential movement up and down when dealing draft picks.
7. Any trades that happen in the NHL from now until the start date will NOT affect the draft board. What the draft board is at right now, is the one we follow. (i.e. NY Rangers first round selection still belongs to Columbus, but any trade that would happen over the next month would not change the draft board) But all trades as of the trade deadline are taken into account.
8. You MUST notify the GM drafting after you via personal message, I cannot stress this enough. This is by far the most important process of the mock draft. We all have lives, so were not always looming the thread. Please try your very hardest to remember. And guys, even if your just dawdling around the board, feel free to drop the GM a notice. It's always appreciated so we can keep a healthy flow here. Try and acknowledge in your draft post that you have notified the next manager on the clock.
9. HAVE FUN! Nothing too serious, it's all for a good time, no one get too serious. We all want this to be a fun experience so everybody has a good time. These are always a blast and last somewhere from a month and a half to two months. So let's have some fun here guys. 10. This isn't a GM game, it is a mock draft. So I won't be focusing on free agency, re-signings or buyouts. Just drafting prospects, you are able to do as you wish (re-sign, etc.) but you won't need my clarification and such as it is not the point of this draft.

Going to be a franchise player and is already nhl ready, Pietrangelo, Karlsson, Doughty, he's going to be as good as these guys and could be better. They also have Huberdeau and a lot of depth at C (yes I know Hubby can play the wing). But not a bad pick just not what I would pick

as good as Lindholm is, and if the Oilers end up picking 6th, they could take him and thats fine, but if the Oil fumble their way to 4th overall, no question they'll take Barkov. he'll fill the so called "2nd line center" job very well, and is talented enough to become the #1 center with the Oilers. he's also the "big, talented center" the Oil have been searching for since probably Jason Arnott.

Sure he's playing the wing right now, but that doesn't mean he can't play as an excellent top notch center.

Also while Kulikov, Gudbranson, Matheson etc are all good Dmen and good prospects, they aren't even remotely close to the level of Jones. Jones is a 1A first pairing D, Kulikov (imo their best D prospect) projects as a 1C If he can play better, and is a solid 2A. Don't get me wrong Kulikov is a good player but not on the level of Jones. And we have a lot more 2nd/3rd line center prospects than we do 1st/2nd pairing D prospects.

As for Jones being BPA, well I feel he's A) the most nhl ready in the sense I feel he'll excel with any team that picks him and I don't think I can say the same for the others B) He's strong offensively and very strong defensively, I dont think the others are quite as good two way players.
