Garland is righty, he's going to play on the 1st unit at least to start. The PP last year often struggled in their set plays because they are all lefties

a lot of things wrong with this trade

oel is a bad $50 scratch off ticket that benning traded a mint condition wayne gretzky rookie card for ($200,000+)

sure benning can still win, but you know the guy that wins a scratch off like that will just end up broke in a few years

furthermore, Benning's track record of getting fixated on high draft pedigree Dmen is laughable. Sbisa, Gudbranson, Myers just kill me rn

With the rumors of Schmidt and Holtby also on the trading block, all these Washington Capitals connections in Vancouver basically got blown up over one off season.

Hiding under WTG's bed...
No more Beagle, Roussel, Eriksson and Sutter. How can you not be happy as a fan that watched these overpaid plugs run around the ice.

Crazy how much cap space they cleared up…
DimJim is at his most dangerous when he has cap space to work with. It's how he was able to hand out those **** contracts in the first place.

It’s up on the list with size, veteranness, toughness, powerplay specialist d, faceoffs, and more

But you would concede that it's better to have more guys capable of being successful on the powerplay than less, yes?

Wasn't saying having a good 2nd unit means Stanley Cup, but still better having a second unit that can be dangerous.

will LOL if Green runs 2 dmen PP when we have the forwards that we do

Going to need to find ways to get more than just Hughes on the PP with the makeup of our defense currently. End of the day, effectiveness >>> position. If Rathbone and OEL are better than say Pearson on the PP, who cares how many d vs f there is.

Pettersson Boeser Horvat Hughes that's 4. 0 chance OEL is better than Miller or Garland

Not if it comes at the detriment of even strength play.

If it’s a bonus - cool!

When you look at what Toronto paid to get rid of 1 year (can’t remember what the salary was) of big salary, how much is getting rid of 1 year of 12 million in salary worth?

No disagreement there. Think Hoglander and Garland's true value will be 5v5 as i don't think either will be on the top unit. Fact they will provide us a 2nd unit that has more than a hope and prayer chance off converting is a bonus.

Likewise, should be a good shoot out group, another bonus that can get us some valuable points.

Hoglander is my favorite player because of his even strength play. I really have no issue with our forward group.

Our defense, however, has six Garland, Boeser, Kole Lind types lol
