Garland-Rathbone-OEL-Hoglander should be a good 2nd unit.
good 2nd unit is the most overrated thing in hockey

It’s up on the list with size, veteranness, toughness, powerplay specialist d, faceoffs, and moreThe MOST? Bold claim.

isnt Baumgartner still there?
Also weren't Columbus 24th in the NHL defensively last year?
This whole 'Brad Shaw defensive miracle worker' thing reminds me of the 'Ian Clark will just magically fix Holtby' thing from last year.
Hey the horvat skating magic beans workedhorvat's power skating coach etc etc, there's always magic beans for this shit
DimJim is at his most dangerous when he has cap space to work with. It's how he was able to hand out those **** contracts in the first place. No more Beagle, Roussel, Eriksson and Sutter. How can you not be happy as a fan that watched these overpaid plugs run around the ice.
Crazy how much cap space they cleared up…

will LOL if Green runs 2 dmen PP when we have the forwards that we do
But you would concede that it's better to have more guys capable of being successful on the powerplay than less, yes?
Wasn't saying having a good 2nd unit means Stanley Cup, but still better having a second unit that can be dangerous.
Going to need to find ways to get more than just Hughes on the PP with the makeup of our defense currently. End of the day, effectiveness >>> position. If Rathbone and OEL are better than say Pearson on the PP, who cares how many d vs f there is.
Not if it comes at the detriment of even strength play. But you would concede that it's better to have more guys capable of being successful on the powerplay than less, yes?

Pettersson Boeser Horvat Hughes that's 4. 0 chance OEL is better than Miller or Garland
When you look at what Toronto paid to get rid of 1 year (can’t remember what the salary was) of big salary, how much is getting rid of 1 year of 12 million in salary worth? No more Beagle, Roussel, Eriksson and Sutter. If it’s a bonus - cool!
He is but Shaw has overall control and input on D system as per his interviewisnt Baumgartner still there?

Hoglander is my favorite player because of his even strength play. I really have no issue with our forward group. No disagreement there. Think Hoglander and Garland's true value will be 5v5 as i don't think either will be on the top unit. Fact they will provide us a 2nd unit that has more than a hope and prayer chance off converting is a bonus.
Likewise, should be a good shoot out group, another bonus that can get us some valuable points.
