Weekend 1 of the Conference Finals wrapped up on Saturday night. In the Eastern Conference, the MadCaps turned a Game #2 3-1 deficit into a 4-3 OT win to get even with Muskegon and head to Madison for Game #3 on Monday night. In Western Conference action, the Musketeers have put the League's #1 seed down 2-0 (two 1-goal victories) with the Tri-City Storm now needing to win a Tuesday-Wednesday pair in Sioux City to ensure a Game #5 back in Kearney.

The USHL develops the urge to establish media relevance, and publishes a premature announcement of the Clark Cup Finals schedule ... :badidea:

After one period in Game #2 in Sioux City, Musketeers 1 - Capitols 0. Muskies rang two posts in the opening 5 minutes of the first period, then later kept Madison to zero shots through most of a 4-minute PP before the Caps drew a minor of their own. Sioux City scored with 38 seconds left to take the lead, and recorded a 1st period advantage in SOGs of 10-2. The usual amount of chippiness for a Finals game, but overall a clean match so far & the hosts are clearly prepared to tie up the series.

End of 2, still 1-0 Musketeers. Caps picked up their offensive game that period, but couldn't narrow the SOG difference (now 19-11 SC). Capitols' goaltender & Nebraska-Omaha commit Simon Latkoczy has kept his team in this game, but not very elegantly. Madison will have to kill off just under a minute of a roughing infraction to begin the third if they want to stay in the hunt. :help:

Final score = Sioux City Musketeers 3 - Madison Capitols 0. Shutout goes to SC goalie & Minn State-Mankato commit Alex Tracy, who played a strong game with an exceptional 3rd period. The GWG was scored late in the 1st by D-man & Vermont-bound Ralfs Bergmanis. Sioux City stuck the dagger in with a late ENG.

Series is tied 1-1, and moving to Madison for Games 3 & 4 on Friday & Saturday.
