If Finland plays like this for the entire period, they're not going to stay ahead.

Awful D by Kokkonen.

Also, Goalie's not impressing me. Every freaking move, even small ones, and he's on the opposite side of the goal.

*sarcastic applause*

Completely the player's own undoing. They got arrogant/cocky and complacent. Threw away the playbook and started playing for themselves in the second period, instead of the team.

Nonexistent lateral movement... Any one timer is an auto-goal vs Taponen.

Anyway... nice throw, boys.

Forwards haven't been covering dmens' pinches, far too many 2v1s.
Forwards can't be ready to cover them so fast, D-men just shouldn't do pinches at this level. It requires way too much experience to know when it's a good idea, IMO it's a coaching mistake to have it be a significant part of the system for a u18 team.

Finland has superior players but pesky Canadians are playing well. Though it helps canada that refs haven't called hooks since 1st period.

Meh, it happens for the best too. These are juniors after all. Feelings are a huge part of the game. You had an idea what may happen after Canada got their first goal on PK.

Over attacking at all times there. The ”number three” was always overextending and thus creating gaps. Petman’s mistake on one goal is the best example of that.

Basically the team has all the skill in thr world, was looking like the better team. But offense was the only thing in mind. Good thing that they lost so the coaches can tell them that. I expect a more disciplined Finland in terms of defensive responsibility for the rest of the tourney

This, hopefully they use this loss as a learning chance. Great example of why you shouldn't give away control of the game trying to preserve a lead, finding that control again is very hard.

What bullshit game.
40 minutes just only defending with limited offense.

If we wanna win something in this tournament we ( Finland) can't start play with Canada's or USA's coast to coast hockey it because it will mean TROUBLES 150% likely.

Defence was total crap and we gave too many dangerous scoring chances for Canada.
It doesn't matter piece of shit how many players Canada will miss due to CHL playoffs they are still very dangerous opponent.

This game started go downhill immediately after Canada's 1-3 goal and when you play 40 minutes only defence you can't beat world class team like Canada.

With this-kind game attitude we don't gonna win U18 WJC quarterfinal or any-kind medal.
Our ( Finland) team must WAKE UP now and play much better than today vs Belarus tomorrow.

If / Canada can keep this game mood on they'll will be USA's number 1 challenger for U18 WJC gold medal.
Congrats Canada well played game and deserved win. Finland was today bunch of individuals instead gold medal contender team.
