They paid him less than his QO and avoided him going to arbitration

”Why didn’t they pay him more and let him file for arbitration? … I mean Why didn’t they just qualify him?”

I get the feeling that once Quinn went down with that achilles, this was a replacement plan, instead of rushing up a prospect.

They were talking about bringing him back prior though. It wouldn't surprise me if they view the time Quinn is out as a way to get a look at some of their other players. This just seems like a continuation of their pre-Quinjury comments.

This team is spending way too much money on 20 point forwards instead of lumping all the money into getting a higher producing forward, and letting these 20 points come from young guys on entry level deals.

No team should be spending 10 million on Jost, Girgs, Okposo and Greenway.

How the hell does he have a 38% FO win, did Colorado and Wild have something like that?

Those young players getting 20 some pts will also be a train wreck defensively when having to play with each other 5v5 (since there won't be enough vets to spread out the damage), and not be any good on the PK, and be physically mis-matched on most nights.

In just one year Kulich, Savoie, and possibly Benson and Rosen can get regular minutes. That's quite an influx, but they all shouldn't be starters this season.

Olofsson was the replacement plan.

He wasn't a bad signing, basically this season's version of Hinostroza. He's a dependable 13 / 14th forward, wasn't his fault that Benson came out of nowhere and that Robinson brings a skillset lacking on the team. The team is healthy and carrying a 3rd goalie means there's no space
You got 3 guys making total of 5 million in the minors. Its poor cap management. Also poor drafting if you cant have rookies come up and do Jost's job.

Take that 5 million and get a real player. Adams really doesn't know what he is doing.

You don't bring up rookies to do Jost's job which was to mostly sit in the press box. He's only had this much playing time because of injuries. Stillman is a very typical AHL contract as he was signed as their 8D so generally should get about 40 games, but the health of the D hasn't resulted in them needing him. Bryson like Jost is due to numbers because he's carrying 3 goalies. Even if KA went out and had signed that 5mil dollar player, these guys would have still be signed for their roles ie 7 and 8D plus 13/14F

Ya you are right you can't have rookies sitting even though Granato has them sitting.

Can you explain to me why you can't have Murray, Rousek or Biro sit in the press box? They also participates in practices. 31 other teams didn't want Jost but you make it sound like Biro can't skate around like a clown doing nothing on the ice like Jost at 2m a pop.

Buffalo traded away Bloom to get Stillman to sit in the minors on an NHL contract?

You get journeymen players at minimum salary to play in the AHL for callups. Guys on league minimum. It doesn't make sense to pay Bryson 2m dollars to play in the minors.

Are you saying you sign up to 8 defensemen on NHL contracts and pay them NHL money even if they are in the AHL on purpose?

Can you name the 7th and 8th defensemen the Bruins are paying to sit in the AHL at 2 million a pop just in case of injuries?
Can you name the 7th and 8th defensemen the Knights are paying to sit in the AHL at 2 million a pop just in case of injuries?
Can you name the 7th and 8th defensemen the Leafs are paying to sit in the AHL at 2 million a pop just in case of injuries?

Like I said, poor cap management.

Like I said, poor cap management.
You want better cap management then waive Johnson and Benson because those players are why you're complaining that they'll have 2mil in cap stashed in the minors. If you bother going through most rosters you'll see vets on league minimum stashed in the AHL. Buffalo unfortunately doesn't usually get players to agree to league minimum to ride buses for half the year

So you are not going to name other teams that have 7th and 8th defensemen sitting in the AHL at 2 million cap hit if they get called up? You said it like its normal.

You just making excuses for poor cap management. Guys making 2m a season aren't 8th defensemen playing in the AHL.

They make league minimum.

You are also pointing out Johnson and Benson and blaming them? No, its not their fault. Its Adams fault for not knowing his own players and signing trash in the off season.

When Bryson, Stillman and Jost are cut free and are free agents next year guess what they will be making? League minimum and thats if teams are even interested in them.

logically flawed

and Buffalo has on their team

Ryan Johnson/ Devon Levi—waive Bryson and Stillman
Zack Benson/Quinn return—Jost waived
Eric Robinson — a needed move due to Girgs/ others injury. Sure it’s a coin flip between him and Jost. If Girgs comes back soon then he’s waived or they do RyJo/Levi paper moves with only one in any game

at the same time you complain of no roster moves because of thr youth. What does it say doing this with a $4M+ player?

Thats not how it works. Bryson, Stillman and Jost shouldn't even be on the team. Its poor asset and cap management.

Eric Robinson was brought in because of Girgs injury yet Girgs is still injured and Robinson sits.

Robinson sits because the rest of the forwards are healthy, if he dresses then VO come out.
