Can't wait to see his progression next year. I think he a good prospect with tools to become a good NHL'er.
Smilanic explaining why he changed schools, he said he wanted to play for a team that plays a more offensive game.
His plan is to play this upcoming season in college and then turn pro.
Hopefully a rich man's Aube-Kubel
Can anyone provide a recent update on Ty Smilanic's status?
After transferring to Wisconsin, things have been far from rosy. Read a vague comment, on a Canadiens prospect site, stating Ty was out with "personal reasons."
Is this a case whereby Florida might have known something concerning about him? Red flag material.
Left wing Ty Smilanic, the leading NCAA goal-scorer on the roster from his two seasons at Quinnipiac before a transfer, was still away from the team for unspecified personal reasons this week. He's still in Madison, Granato said.
"We expect him back at some point here soon, but there's no definite date," Granato said.

Any idea what the whispers around him are?I assume the Habs knew before hand, from the rumors he had something going on at Quinnipiac which is more of why he left what is the current #2 ranked team in the NCAA for one of the worst teams in Wisconsin. Though it's just talk so no one really knows what's going on.

Looks like he's back in Wisconsin and ready to play

Nice. Hopefully he picks it up and makes the Chiarot trade that much sweeter after the unprotected 1st.
Ahh ha. Obviously "time out for personal reasons" really meant "doing a ton of crystal meth" ;-)His new team picture is something else , you can make a wacky'' dont let your kids do drugs'' montage with his previous one pretty easy

So his absence was mental health related, as was suspected. Good on him for recognizing he needed help and taking the necessary steps in order to get his life back on track.Smilanic Re-Focused After Leave From Badgers
