Sunday’s Warriors-Kings first round NBA playoff Game 7 averaged 9.84 million viewers on ABC, marking the largest first round playoff audience since Kings-Jazz Game 5 on NBC in 1999, and the largest first or second round audience since Raptors-Sixers Game 7 in 2001.

That's horrible. How are they doing on Apple+ now?

The general rule with streaming is, if they release/leak/PR numbers then it's good, good enough or they're lying. If we don't see anything, underwhelming at best to disaster at worst. Since we haven't seen anything, I take it as somewhere between disaster-to-underwhelming.

Tuesday’s Lakers-Warriors second round NBA playoff Game 1 averaged 7.36 million viewers on TNT, the largest first or second round audience on cable in 11 years — since Lakers-Thunder Game 5 on TNT in 2012 (8.15M). Viewership jumped 38% from Warriors-Grizzlies Game 2 in the same window last year (5.32M). Ratings were not immediately available. Lakers-Warriors marks the first playoff meeting between James and Curry since they met in four-straight NBA Finals while James was a member of the Cavaliers. James’ Lakers did play Curry’s Warriors in a 2021 Play-in Tournament game that averaged in the neighborhood of 5.6 million viewers on ESPN.

There were reports that apple could opt-out of MLS if they don't get the volumn of subs - any truth to that?

You saw the same thing I did. Seems standard to have opt-out clauses but also seems unrealistic to be used immediately or during/after the first season. Think that's a discussion to be had a couple years into the deal.

I know NBA is popular but the ratings show that Stars matter more then the market.

Kentucky Derby >> King Charles III coronation

The thoroughbred outpaced the monarch in the sport of kings, at least on any single network: An average of 14.8 million people watched the horse race, with viewership peaking at 16.6 million for the actual two minutes of track time during the 7 to 7:15 p.m. Nielsen measurement window.

NBC’s coverage of the coronation, starting at 6 a.m., averaged 1.72 million viewers while CBS averaged 1.58 million and Fox averaged 1.6 million at the same time. CNN’s average peaked at 1.15 million at 11 a.m. ABC wasn’t immediately available. BBC America averaged 261,000 (it was 14 million-plus on the BBC in Britain out of 67 million UK residents, per Variety, and another 8.4 million on Sky News).

Plus #s for USFL, XFL, etc.
