For his career Tuukka Rask is #1 in ALL TIME save percentage and #11 in ALL TIME goals against (min 200 games). This isn't since he has been around or even since 2014 like you suggest but this is ever. You can say he's only been a top 10 goalie but that only makes sense if you're talking about top ten ever. Based on statistics the only guys you can argue were better were Hasek and Dryden.

I'm sure you will argue but you will just look bad.

I don't feel bad.

2014-15 11th in save percentage, 11th in goals against 16th

2015-16 22nd in SP, 22nd in GA

2016-17 21st in SP, 7th in GA

2017-18 17th in SP, 9th in GA

2018-19 20th in SP, 11th in GA

In those 5 seasons he received a total of 7 votes (all in 2017-18) for the Vezina trophy.

Perhaps I was being too kind saying he was a top 10 in that period.

And, Tuukka currently stands 3 all-time in save percentage. And that's not really all-time because the stats for that category only go back to 1956.

You said that you're too kind putting him as a top 10 goalie during that time? I'm not looking for a list but I don't think you can think of 10 goalies that would have won us more games during that stretch. He might be 11th one year of 12th another but he's done it that whole time, nobody can be top 10 every year.

Bringing Vezina votes into it is a stupid argument because Carey Price has received votes in 5 of the last 8 years yet the two worst seasons of Tuukka's career 2014 & 2018 are basically Price's career stat line.

And, Tuukka currently stands tied in 1st all time save percentage at .922, they measure to the thousandths. If you insist we can go another decimal and he is 1/10,000 of a percentage point behind Hasek for #2. If you are so uncomfortable calling him one of the best all time I'm comfortable going with one of the best since 1956, I'll give you that.

Once again, talking strictly about the 5 years in question:

6th in goals against average, 17th in save percentage

Top 10 in that period is being kind

Before 1956 games where probably 12 goals a night

A friend sent me this from a past season. I hope we don't see Tuukka this pissed off anytime soon (he was pulled ). I am sitting next to him (that is why this was sent to me).

The kid with the glasses behind Tuukka is Sweeney's son.

Mr. Make-Believe

The happy genius of my household
While this is true - Let's not forget that he has played for what even now is a DEFENSE FIRST team. Bruce's team may be a little more run and gun, but it's still all about defending.

Tuukka and Halak are not usually required to stand on their head to win a game. Sometimes they do ( like overtime the other night) But most nights the team in front of him has a lot to do with his success.

Not to take away from his abilities in any way - but it's not like he's playing with a bunch of plumbers out there. He's a big part of an Elite defensive team.
Would you make the same disclaimer about Martin Brodeur?

If Rask were to retire tomorrow, he wouldn't get in the HHOF. Aside from Gerry Cheevers, the HHOF is pretty strict on goalies, and Rask would miss the cut.

Let's look at some of his contemporaries, and keep one thing in mind - Kiprusoff is NOT in the HHOF.

Also, check out this NHL.com article regarding Luongo going to the HHOF Luongo first-ballot Hall of Fame credentials debated by NHL.com the almost unanimous opinion is he will get to the HHOF eventually, but not a first ballot guy.

Let's look at some goalies who aren't in the HHOF

Barrasso1,2,2,2,3,7,91,2,2,3,4,86,8,90.892 / 2,4,4,5,6,10
[TBODY] [/TBODY]
Joseph's record would be more impressive if he didn't have the greatest generation of goalies to play against (Roy, Hasek, Brodeur, Belfour)

Liut would have a Vezina, but his best year the Vezina was still awarded to the goalie(s) who allowed the fewest goals. He would also have a Hart Trophy if some kid in 81 named Gretzky wasn't there.

Barrasso was hockey's biggest ******

Rask is one of the best goalies of his generation, but he isn't one of the 'best all time' (for me meaning HHOF worthy). There aren't many goalies I would take over Rask in his generation, but this is a rather weak generation for goalies.

One could argue the HHOF should loosen the requirements on goalies, but that would mean that Price, Rask, Quick, Rinne are also HHOFers (and many more from history).

Ladyfan acting nonchalant. She knows she has an angry goalie next to her. A very angry goalie. She actually wants to look to see how angry the goalie is. In fact she really really really wants to take a peak to see just how angry.

But finally, at the end of the day, she decides that it is a wiser move to look off to her right -- acting as if something else has caught her attention and that everything is simply A-O-K.

 Actually I looked at him when he first got back to the bench after being pulled but was a little hard to see him through the steam coming out of his ears. I decided to watch the game instead.

Tuukka doesn't have a good poker face and when he is displeased it shows. We have seen him give some of his d-men killer faces.

I miss seeing the B's up close. Hopefully by next year we can go back to games

I should've put quotes around it to make it clear that it was a shot at the haters that love to make that claim, particularly in the offseason when it becomes more difficult to cite exact games like this to discredit them.

I'm arguably the biggest rask supporter here.....admittedly to a fault sometimes.

Tuuk is one of the best in the NHL and has been since he started with the B's
Fact. Absolutely. There probably hasn’t been a more consistent goalie since he joined the league. Rask is high quality. When he retires the bruins are going to feel it.
