Watched a lot of Trent Frederic at Wisconsin. Haven't seen him play in Providence so my thoughts might be out of date. But from what I've seen of him and JFK, I like this move.

JFK is the better skater and vision, but Frederic has the size and a very good shot. If this kid has the confidence to shoot the puck at the NHL level, I think we'll be pleasantly surprised.

Am I wrong to think maybe David Backes in his prime kind of ceiling/player? If so, maybe Backes can help him get on that road.

How soon before JFK joins the likes of Vatrano and Connolly as good young players with offensive upside shipped out of town too soon because they don't play a heavy or defensive enough of a game for this management team?

It is kinda scary...but imo more so than those guys because JFK has a lot of intangibles. He’s got a lot of ways to pan out. We had a pretty long look at many of the players that have found some success elsewhere and I couldn’t second guess moving most of them. Lots of one trick ponies, that made it work elsewhere. But it was a Clode system, I guess. Tough to equate to now.

I’d be disappointed to see JFK go, but it feels like go-time for many of our older or straight up old legendary players. I’m ready to take some pain for “now.” We’re in a now period.

Kid should be in Providence the whole year. Let him get the minutes and rack up points down there so next year, he has the third line center down. Hopefully it’s not to showcase. I’ll be pissed.

JFK didn't look much more effective at the NHL level than Jordan Szwarz did last season. I'm perplexed at how JFK's mediocre preseason and 4 point performance in Providence somehow earned him a 28 game audition in Boston.

Really looking forward to seeing what Frederic brings. He's earned his shot at the third line.

I would be very disappointed if this were to be a showcase to a trade scenario. I agree with that.

I like the call up. The experience will be good for him, and will help the Bruins better evaluate whether he will be ready to be a strong contributor next fall

Beyond that the kid is playing the best hockey of his life. He is locked and loaded and playing dominating hockey most every shift down there right now. Let's see if he can fill a hole before we go out and spend 3 assets to find someone to do it

3rd liner by his own team

3rd liner by a scout who already had one foot out the door to his next job rebuilding the Edmonton org :)

I'm sorry where is the offensive upside with JFK. The reports on him coming out of college were good prepositionally, good on faceoffs, very good hockey IQ. Offense was the concern as to whether he would be a bottom 6 player or top 6, so far he has shown he is not a top 12 player, hopefully he was being showcased and he can bring a solid return. Seems like there is little interest in him if he is already going back to Providence.

I don’t think JFK has shown great offense at any level. At least college, AHL, and NHL.

I agree but Sweeney screwed up in the offseason and didn't get a 3C so it's open tryouts during a playoff race.

A thousand miles from nowhere
Again, Cassidy is always talking about young players being "hard on pucks". That more than anything else will probably make or break Frederic.
I hope he exceeds expectations.

I think it's gone exactly according to plan. If your long term aim is to draft and develop, you need to have spots open for guys to win. I think Plan A was to hope that someone would run with the job but if not they get some experience and someone will be more-ready in 2019-2020. Plan B is to get someone at the deadline.

JFK has improved a lot. Cave was good and an unfortunately loss. Now Frederic will get some valuable experience.

Prepare yourself for him being less than 40% at the dot,his technique is still a work in progress
He'll be hard on pucks I just hope he doesn't get over exuberant and spends most of his lines ice time in the box
His wrist shot is killer and he's not a pass first type of center
On paper this 3rd line should put the last 3rd line to shame (Heinen, JFK Donato)
His skating is fugly looking but hes not slow and it works for him.
This is a good test, I'm optimistic

hope he keeps it as simple as it can get. I haven`t had the luxury to watch the kid as others have but it sounds as though when he just plays that North/South game and stays focused shift in and out, the results are good but there`s been times where he`s lost his focus in Providence (hardly a shock from a kid).

He`ll be nervous for sure, home ice so Butch can control some TOI decisions.

hasn`t shown or produced a ton but you can see it`s there. I have zero issues with both he and Donato heading to Providence and IMO, neither should be called up unless they are showing with consistency that they are the best players on the ice for both teams and/or an injury occurs.

There is no reason to rush either, get em down there, have them play a ton and have the coaches work with them on aspects of their games they need most and for gawd sakes, get JFK in the weight room for a bit

Been calling for Frederic for awhile and send down the smaller guys. Finally some size, nasty and puck possession. Do not expect much offence playing with Backes, hopefully they keep it simple and get a break or two.

This is not the time for tryouts with 33 games left in playoff fight.Hope the kid plays well but man o man it seems like Sweeney just pulling straws all year praying
