The two paragraphs are like night and day. First you say he's far from untouchable and question people who think he'll be a top 6 winger. Then you say you wouldn't trade him at all and believe in him just as much as anyone.

But I never was up for trading him though, bud. I just want him to be the guy he needs to be and prove himself rather than everyone claiming he's untouchable. He hasn't put up the numbers we all think of him to be putting up. And it wasn't fair on his part given it was a half season. Let's just not oversell him and thinking he's untouchable. Because at the end of the day, if Murray sees something that he likes, Silf (or anyone else for that matter) would be gone, without any of us having a say in it.

Saying he's far from untouchable and passing up the 5th overall is pretty contradicting.

Whatever, it was just the 1st impression I got

Silfverberg is ridiculously underrated.

With that being said I love Lindholm but unless he plays wing I keep Silfv.

Agreed. After Zibanejad its a toss between lehner and silf for second top prospect on this team, and not many teams are willing to trade their second best prospect, or throwing him in a package for that matter.

Yes, Silfverberg just finished 2nd in team goals(excluding Conacher) playing as a rookie in a shortened season on an offensively deprived and injury riddled team while playing all-situations and facing toughest competition.

Compared to previous 5th overall picks, Silfverberg is on par with Strome, Nino, Brayden Schenn, Luke Schenn.

Even though I do see this draft being much deeper.

Personally i believe Silfverberg is gonna have a better career then lindholm, from what silf has proven so far alone..

Going to be a lot of busts in this year's draft, no point in moving up.

Ya'll heard it here first.

I have no evidence to prove this other than my gut feeling.

Silfverberg is our shootout specialist. The shootout is very important in the regular season.

Last year was a crazy year for Silfverberg...first year in North America, AHL, then a condensed 48 game season...lets see how he does next year in a full 82 games before we talk trade.

These threads happen because of Spezza's back

I can see why people would be willing to give to go get someone who looks like he very well could be a first line center

That being said I wouldn't do it: we have no reason to think Spezza's back is finished. There will be other opportunities to get a first line centerman; Spezza, barring serious problems, should be fine for at least another 5-8 years.

The reality of the situation is you shouldn't always give up the good players you have for every opportunity to get franchise players: you never end up developping a team if you do that.

Sweet! Only 5 more years to wait to be a contender.:shakehead

Are Puempel and our 17th really that much closer to NHL impact than the 5th overall and of such importance that they alone will determine whether or not we become a contender?

DJB's proposal is for one of Mackinnon, Drouin, Barkov, Jones, Monahan, or Nichushkin, the Sens would be nuts not to accept that deal.

It will probably be one of monohan, Barkov, Nichushkin or Lindholm. I dont see Murray getting nichuskin due to his history with russians but you never know. I personally want Lindholm out of that group.

Where the Cup is
my proposal.....

What could Ottawa get for their 17th pick + JOB, Da Costa, and Conacher...

Would that be enough for the Sens to move up far enough to get a (super) kid that would be able to make the jump from juniors to the NHL & be effective in putting the puck in the net?????

That way the Sens could move JOB, & Da Costa to new teams where they could have a future with as I do not think either have much of a future with Ottawa............

+ it would also free up 2 roster spots................

Comments welcome........

I really don't think it would.

JOB and DaCosta likely wont hold much value and Conacher's value looks to have gone down since coming to the Sens.

OK who would have to be added to make that deal then????

Depends really what team we're looking to trade with. May take Noesen or Ceci along with the 17th and possibly our 3rd to move up, or even a Cowen or Silfverberg/Zibby.

It's an incredible draft. Teams with the top spots arent going to move them without getting something amazing in return IMO.

Then again, I could be completely wrong.

Part of the fun!!!

Not sure if any of the other teams would do this but
Puempel + 17th + Da Costa/JOB
for one of the 3rd/4th/5th overall?

Murray on Monday: "I've called three teams so far -- actually, four -- I'll call a number more and see if anyone wants to move. There are certain reasons to move fairly high and if we don't do that maybe we're okay where we are. I have talked and nobody has really gotten back to me and I don't suspect anyone will be willing to move down but, you never know, we might have an asset that would address a need."
