And ask Kings fams who was there best defenseman this year and they will say Muzzin over Doughty. You forget how important the defensive play is for a defenseman and Muzzin is a beast in this category

Petry was better than Weber last year. That don't mean I think Petry is better than Weber. Not sure what this proves in the Muzzin vs Petry debate.

Petry deserves a bit more respect from you. People laughed at him being ranked 13th heading into the season (in the article I showed you) based on 3 seasons prior of production and he has gone out there and produced for us this year man.

People also said he would slow down once Weber comes back. False again.

Give him the credit he deserves! He's producing and it's not just one for one season.

Petry is fine defensively. Ha has his brainfarts and he gets caught off position from time to time

I guess we have different definitions of "fine defensively". I believe his brain farts and tendency to get caught out of position should keep him out of the "fine defensively" category. I think that should be reserved for more consistent players.

I love Petry ! I’m saying there value is equal it’s not disrespecting him saying that he has the same value has a guy like Muzzin …

Well the fact he was playing +26min per game when Weber was out and held his own and helped the habs winning game. I would say that yes he is fine defensively.

"Petry sucks defensively because he couldn't make Jordie Benn look like a top 4 dman."

I think you are being too critical on Petry and not comparing it to other D man who have the same giveaway to takeaway ratio who you would consider much better. Stats from Fantrax.com and you can question the accuracy if you wish. Same concern applies equally to all players.

Petry:

- 105 Hits in 50 games (2.10/game)
- 73 Giveaways in 50 games (1.46/game)

I have to agree with JeffreyLFC on this one. The issue here is that Ozmodiar is equating brain farts and the odd tendency to get caught out of position witch a lack of consistency, compared to those that are considered "top D men or defensively fine". The reality is, that over an 82 game season, playing 24+ minutes a game, the top Dmen or defensively fine Dmen, will not be able to escape a brain fart or the inconsistency of being out of position once in a while.

It would be interesting if we could do a brain fart comparison between players.

Petry is a poor man's Subban imvho; at least, the way he developed his game. I mean, the way he rushes the puck and because of shoting; basically, relying on athletism. I say poor man. Subban is miles ahead, defensively too. Maybe Petry has found his game. I'd still trade him because I'm part of the rebluiding-retooling clan!

I'm not judging him based on giveaway/takeaway ratio.

I'm already aware that some of the best defensemen in the league have a high number of giveaways, especially those who like to handle the puck - Subban, Doughty, Karlsson.

In turn, Petry makes everyone look bad defensively because he gets caught out of position on a play by play basis.

Circumstance matter. Petry has never had a reliable partner and I think he feels he needs to do to much at times which leads to your comment. We played Markov with him at times to reduce his minutes but we also kept moving Markov to Subban/Weber

Petry is good man. Give him a break. It's not his fault he has not had a consistent partner season after season (who is also top 4D) like other guys from across the league has.

Who has petry Played with this year? Reilly, Benn, Kulak, Mete, Schlemko? Who has Petry played with in the past? Emelin, Beaulieu, and sometimes Markov? Who am I forgetting?

id be totally cool paying less and getting Maata I watch a bunch of Pitt games he's good

Id also take Dumoulin very happily to play with Weber that would be a wall top pair

1 point out of 2nd in the Atlantic and people want to trade our number 2 defenseman for futures.
Pshaw we are still in jeopardy don't kid yourself. Petry should be able to net us results like the Max Patch deal a very good player for today's roster and a graded prospect for the future.
It's actually how we should be building considering we are expected to vie for the bubble.

Petry handles the puck just as much or slightly behind the top guys. Especially in the last 2 seasons. Subban does not try to carry the puck up the ice with the Preds like he did with the Habs cause he doesn't have too.

I think your concerns is noticed and I understand. But you have to realize that LD depth was bad after Markov for so many years.
