He's not necessarily a bad player, but given his contract he has negative surplus value, so to quote Alfie, "probably not".

It's kind of like when we waived Zack Smith and he cleared, even though he was still a useful NHL player.
a more useful player. Even Arty Party had a PTO and now going to the KHL .. is better

No, it's not

Sanford is an NHL player. Who amongst the names you posted still is?

We needed NHL players. It's pretty simple. Not waiver wire pickups. And we had a stock cupboard of draft picks to get a NHL player

Sanford doesn't look like much of an NHLer. He has some talent and a decent shot, but he's remarkably bad at winning battles for a guy who is 6'4, doesn't have much of an effort level and isn't a great defensive player. He's been exactly as advertised by Blues fans, who were happy to be rid of him.

The funny thing is “probably not” was completely ignored by fans when the Sens didn’t bend over backwards to bring him back.

I should add that it's not because he might clear waivers today that he won't get us some assets back at the deadline. By then, teams will deal with injuries and might desperately look to add some depth. Will the asset be better than the 4th round pick we are essentially giving up? I don't know. For one, it depends on how he plays between now and the deadline.

Sanford has been fine, the trade is fine. Haters gonna hate as usual.

Pierre did Brown a solid by flipping him to St Louis, and Sanford is worth a 4th round pick as an NHL player.

Next issue….

Clearly not. Has been solid since the season has began. Why are people talking about him going on waivers? This team has no depth, it needs him.

Absolutely. Ennis was a good pickup. Cost zero assets and makes less than half of what Sanford makes.
I'll take the proven 6'4 player in my bottom 6 in the playoffs thanks.

It's becoming more and more clear about who watches other teams play and who doesn't around here.

He makes 2 million dollars..... Not net negative. Not the same as Zack Smith. The sens literally just gave up assets for the player. He has been playing well since the games started to matter. He was a contributer on a team that won the cup.....

Closing this one up, you can discuss Sanford in the lineups thread or create a new one special for him, and Logan can be discussed in the around the NHL thread,
