Actually, with his play style, he does. He is about as hit-or-miss of a prospect as you can have. His options are pretty much (A) being amazing, (B) a #6 PP specialist, or (C) a bust.

He's the blueline version of Nikita Filatov.

You do realize that probably half of all NHL dmen were big time offensive defensemen when they were 18-19? You ever watch EJ, Leo, Ballard, Goligoski, Suter, Faulk, Leddy play in the WCHA? Just because the kid is able to carry the puck doesn't mean that's the only way he can succeed in the NHL. The kid has all of the physical tools, what appears to be a great attitude, and a very good work ethic. His numbers in Junior have been fine, especially when you understand that he spent all of last year trying to tone down his "run and gun" to try and round out his D.

Thinking that Dumba can only become one of the 3 options you list is laughable at best.

And it's important to reiterate that Dumba will be 20 next year when he can finally play in the AHL -- where he has belonged for the last year and change at least. At that same age many future NHL defenders are wearing a facemask against other masked children in the NCAA. Once Dumba can legally get into a few after a tough game it'll be fair to start assessing his development.

More like Done-ba. Hope they teach college in the AHL.

So you give up on a 19 year old who just put up 42pts in 47 games as a defenseman? He also played solidly in the WJC. You give up way to easily. I'd give him another 3-4 years before you can call him a bust.

Kings fan coming in peace. Do you think you guys will puruse matt greene ? He's a UFA and from the area.

Pros:
great leader
tough as hell
excellent penalty killer

cons:
slow as hell
below average puck handling

Ive though for the last few months that he would be a good fit for you guys. What do you guys think ?

He would be my #1 target actually...Would solve more problems than Vanek or Niskenen.
