I think 1-3 years and 8 years should be off the table. I'd prefer 5-6, but 4 and 7 should be viable as well.

Can’t really compete if we don’t have Boldy/Rossi making up atleast 10 million to the dead cap in those years, so I don’t see how you trade them in an Eichel deal. And, we’d need Eichel to be about a ~12 Million dollar guy at a 10M AAV and Kaprizov to be a 10M guy at an 8M AAV

It’s almost just as important to keep out first rounders as well in the hope that they’re about ready in 3-4 years

You can't get any 24-25 yr old true #1 C's locked up for 5 years for unproven, unknown peospects

Addison = Menell
Rossi is unproven and coming off not playing for a year
2 1sts are in the 20's and absolutely no guarantee of any type of NHL player

It's too bad they seem to be so stocked with young defensemen. If you watch Addison highlights from Lethbridge it seems like Cozens is in about 80% of them.

Not that any of what you said is necessarily wrong (though I think "Addison=Menell" isn't exactly correct either), but how do you build a contender in those five years when you're trading away valuable ELC assets like Rossi, Addison and two 1sts, on top of an 18% cap penalty? Tampa Bay just won with a cap hit of 98M, how do you plan to compete with 66M?

He's with the Blues, but I can't figure where he plays in their lineup. Three years left at 3.275. My initial thought was something like Rask and a 3rd. He's gone for anywhere from a 2nd to a 4th in the last few years, and we basically swap contracts. His money isn't so much that we can't afford him the next two years, and we're probably signing a UFA defenseman for about that anyway. If he can't play anymore though, I wouldn't make the deal, so it depends on that.
