If we could bring in 2 of Granlund/Haula/Soderberg near league minimum it would give us a tonne of options down the middle. Would even give you the option of moving Kerfoot to open up some cap space as well. I don't think we go this route but we'll see.

The rest of the guys I don't really have any interest in.
There’d have to be a market for Kerfoot to bring in another C, I’d think.
Weegar for Kerfoot and a second?

Soderberg at league minimum? His last contract was $4.75 mil, and it's been suggested he's got an overinflated self valution, so you aren't going to get him for league minimum, or anywhere near.

Haula has missed a great deal of time the last two years, with severe knee injuries. It's probable that he'll never be the same again.

Granlund is a winger now, hasn't really been used as a C, since 2015/16.

Almost your only choice, is Brassard. I think Kerfoot is ours for the year, unless someone makes a good 3C, on a good contract available for some reason, which seems doubtful.

Under normal circumstances Soderberg wasn't going to be getting a big contract at his age unless there was a club desperate for an experienced body. He seems like the logical target as a center.

I still have interest in Soderberg. 35 to 50 point producer last 3 years. Fairly durable player. He's now 35 years old but still seems effective.

I would have preferred him over Vesey for the same price if that was at all possible.

Soderberg will sign at some point. It will likely be at a price, that wouldn't have made sense for us.

best thing Hoffman could do is sign a 1 year deal with Sens for dirt cheap, be a great teammate and produce on the ice

Am I the only person not surprised teams arent lining up to give Mike Hoffman a big deal?

Whatever family character issues there are aside, almost half of his points the past two years have been PP points.

Who exactly has cap room, and the need for a PP specialist, who seems to be sheltered the rest of the time? Which of those teams, believe he could be the difference maker for them? If you go through the list, of teams with $5-6 mil left, and see which ones still need to sign major RFA... like Islanders, and Columbus, subtract out teams that won't be competing for much anyway.... There doesn't seem to be many landing spots for him, so he's best to take a short-term deal somewhere, and it's not likely going to be a raise for him.

Marincin/Rosen beating out Lehtonen does open up another 200k, but if we don't budget for Lehtonen then we bar him from winning the spot.

Similar, point it's about contract logistics. If Dermott contract doesn't account for him in the budget he can't win the spot
I meant running 6 D without Lehtonen not replacing him with Marincin lmao

I'd suspect despite his recent play Granlund will still get some money, or play on a team short term where he can try for a big year, maybe as a McDavid linemate for instance. Of course the players exist to give him that chance here but I doubt he cuts it as a skilled player in our top 6. That said, if we could get any of those players I'd be all for it.

Not sure how past it people think he is but I'd add Travis Hamonic.

Hoffman is a pos. It made my blood boil to see his little bitch ass chasing Karlsson around the ice over their ladies bullshit. Hoffman needs his teeth knocked out.

I think it makes more sense to run with 12 forwards than 6 defenseman.
I meant both 6 D and 12 forwards...20 man roster. That would allow us to sign Dermott to a larger contract without moving anyone out..Say 3 years 2 million or something like that.

But im just spitballing.

Does anybody know off the top of their head if Dermott at 874k is cheap enough for a 22-man roster. Or are we still looking at 21?
