I went from thinking the Pens were going to miss the playoffs... to thinking they finish 2nd in the Metro. Life comes at you fast.

Its so close. Anything can happen. I have no clue who gets in. I just hope the Caps make it.

There will be 5 from the Metro. Caps, Pens, Blue Jackets, Devils, and one of Rangers/Isles/Canes.

It's funny that people forget how long the season is and every team's fans were saying "must win" for games in November to keep pace with the rest of the division. Yet, the Rangers started like crap and are in the playoffs. Pens look to be in full speed to take 2nd as you said. Capitals looked completely human and a bubble wildcard team and now are running away with the division. Flyers lost 10 straight and are right in the thick of it. Columbus and Isles sputtering badly in the last little bit.

Funnily enough, the most consistent team has been the Devils. We all predicted that...

Washington and Pittsburgh will make it. I see the other 3 teams making it as likely first round exits at this point

That's what I think. Top 2 Pitt/Wash definitely make it. After that....dunno, anybody's guess. My gut feeling says NJ drops off, NYI and Rangers make it with Columbus too

That's pretty tough for the Rangers, who have yet to go on the California trip or the Western Canadian road swing. The Canes have a real opportunity to make up some ground with the extra home games; although, they haven't been as good at home as they were last year. Every other team has a reasonable balance.

All i know is, any Metro team making the playoffs is going to be dangerous in the playoffs, because the ones who make it are forced to get hot and stay hot down the stretch.

Tampa will have their hands full with any WC team, especially if they coast down the stretch because there's no playoff race in the Atlantic.

The Penguins are heating up right now for sure, I think you're looking at the Penguins and Islanders rising and the Rangers and Jackets falling. My guess for the final standings is:

Washington
Pittsburgh
New Jersey
Columbus
NYI
Philly
NYR
Carolina

Hats off to the Caps. Every reason to possibly suck this year and there they are. Right at the top of the division again. Hats off.

Two teams I can’t figure out at all are the flyers and hurricanes. So bipolar.

Even the islanders, I hope the devils stop losing just so there can stop being so many up and down teams.

I just want to have some idea of who is good now and who isn’t. Ps I know we suck

They are still making the playoffs however.

The Canes are now 8th in the Metro, but will be in a playoff spot if they win tomorrow.

How in the hell does that happen?

Horrible playoff formats.

It's like the league learned nothing from neither the Patrick Division nor Norris Division in the 80s. Always love that 1987-88 season where the Penguins had 29 more points than the Maple Leafs, yet the Leafs were the one that went to the playoffs. Good times.
