Keep hearing #Kings Bernier will b traded sooner than later. With poss' Breeze buyout and Leiweke LA link, #Leafs #Flyers front-runners

Also apparently Flyers are not going t buy out Bryzgalov. Will make it easier in getting Bernier.

Josh Rimer ‏@JoshRimerHockey
Rich Winter, Ilya Bryzgalov's agent has been informed by Paul Holmgren that Bryzgalov will NOT be bought out after Cup Final! #flyers

Question: Is this a good idea? Do we want a goalie controversy? Does Reimer deserve a chance to be the de facto #1, or anything goes?

Obviously it'd be great to add Bernier. But I would only do it if we could convince them to take a package of "quantity" as opposed to "quality". I'd send something like ~Scrivens+Frattin+Ashton... But I'd be very hesitant to include guys like Percy, Finn, Biggs, 1st round pick, etc.

Considering Bernier vs Reimers career histories, we'd really only be trading for Bernier to add insurance, NOT because he's distinctly better than Reimer at this point (or over the last 3-4 years). Which is why I wouldn't be willing to part with what I consider "key" assets for the Leafs.

Well we must be interested, we've been linked to Bernier for two years now. And apparently LA likes Frattin..again this goes back 2 years. I could see a deal going down at the draft. I just want us to keep our 1st no matter what.

Bernier is a pending UFA. I really doubt Frattin is on a table. More like a conditional pick or a cheap prospect or something.

Bernier is an RFA...

Bernier has far more value than Frattin. If that's all it took, we would take that and run.

Apparently according to the Sportsnet panel it would cost us our 1st round pick 21st overall to acquire him.

I would sign a vet to play below Reimer if that's the case. Close the books on that one.

Would I want to add Bernier? Sure, why not.

Would I want to add Bernier at what LAK is likely to demand for him? Awh hellll no.

I feel sorta indifferent on this one. I'm not all that hyped up about who may be available at 21 unless guys like Domi, Wennberg, Pulock, Lazar, or Morrissey drop to that spot. With names like Rychel, Gauthier, Erne, and Poirier likely being available I wouldn't hesitate moving that pick. Still, I'd rather move that pick for defenseman or a center.

Yeah, not interested in trading our 1st. I don't really see the need for Bernier; Reimer is more proven, loves being here, did well for us last year. I'd rather get a veteran to back him up than trade valuable assets.

I'd be fine with Frattin. Don't really get his hype-train. He's like 25 and he hustles and that's about it :dunno:

That's what I was thinking.

Frattin isn't a defensive specialist and doesn't really look like he has a ton of offensive upside either. He's just kinda filler.

A terrible playmaker, but has a decent shot, throws the body around somewhat, and tries hard. At his age, you can't expect a ton of upside to what we've already seen from him.

Leiweke link? (yes I know Leiwke was running LA)

There's a link between the President/CEO and a backup goalie? Hope Kypreos is just fishing here.

There's not a link, he likely just had some say in player decisions in LA and knows Bernier and how he was valued in the Kings organization, so he thinks he'd be a good fit. I doubt they really know eachother.

But yeah, I hope Kyper is just fishing too.

According to Kyper its MLSE boss Tim Leiweke that is linked to LA, and Bernier as someone he likes.

This putting Toronto as a front runner in acquiring him.

Thats the link...that both were in the same organization. Leiweke obviously knows Bernier and the player he is, he was around the team.

If he's better than Reimer, get him, never fall in love with any player that contributes to your team being a marginal playoff team. Come to think of it if he's an upgrade to Scrivens, get him, Reimer has a history of injuries so a 1A-1B might be ideal.

That's the thing, you need guys that hustle on the bottom 6. They are really useful in playoffs, when the stars get too exhausted from constant pressure. Look at Bickel, Shaw, Paille, etc..

Aight, so ship him out for the young backup and sign one of those guys in the offseason.

Or you know, just call D'Amigo up.
