Actually I do remember a game being cancelled but not delayed or shortened. And that may have been pre 2008.

I don't really pay attention to the rules though, not to the same level of hockey.

Maybe cancelled, but there has actually never been a playoff game shortened in MLB history, so the rule was really moot. I think it was more because that was the year they stopped the all-star game when it was tied and the rule states something like playoff, tie breaking and all-star games cannot be shortened
