Martin's extra year hurts the Leafs when the young guys get off their ELC but this is a fine trade for the Isles IMO. They have cap to work with, Martin gets to protect the young guys. It's a win-win for both teams.

I wouldn't hate Martin on the lineup as a depth guy to plug in when we need some physicality, but his cap hit is a bit of a unnecessary luxury.

Look how much the Islanders have invested in Clutterbuck, Ladd, Komarov, Martin etc. Guys that are being phased out of hockey as there is now a huge priority on speed and skill.
