Don't mind that cap hit... but I agree with some other posters, I think it's a year too long.

Oh well, hopefully he plays great for us and protects our young stars.

He's overpaid by about 500k and 1 year. Are people really crying about a 4th line signing? Leafs needed toughness, and they went out and got one of the toughest guys in the NHL

Definitely will be able to swing games in our favor. When the rookies start getting pushed around, Martin will provide the pushback.

If we don't sign Kris Russell, than this looks ok.

If we sign Kris Russell, this deal gets worse.

He was making $2 million last year, so he was going to get a raise. $2.5mil. is manageable. The 4 year term may come back to haunt us though.

As I said in the other thread, if this is the worst deal the Leafs make, I'm fine with it. Contract aside, Martin's a good add. Him and Komarov on the same team will be a riot.

I like it - may be a bit overpaid, but we need some one playing hard and get under the skin

I'm satisfied with the deal. Neither the term nor cap hit will kill us, and he's someone we could use while the kids get their feet wet.

Hey, whatever. When this was rumoured I thought the AAV would be higher.

If he protects the kids, chips in with 10-12 goals.

I like it. Leafs need a grit guy like Martin and I don't see anyone on the Marlies who can step into that role at a cheaper price. Easy to move or bury that contract in a few years if need be.

Love the player, only like the deal.

Martin is exactly what this young team needs.

Hes going to be a leader off the ice and hold his opponents accountable on the ice if they take runs at our youth.

You can be sure Matthews and Marner will fee more comfortable with someone like Matt Martin on their wing.

He's a lot better than people give him credit for. Its the guys who simply look at the stat sheets that wont fully understand his value.

But.... But..... He's a "face puncher" grrrrrrrr. I feel like a lot of you don't understand what Martin can do for the Leafs. He is much, much more than a "face puncher".
