Too much term. Not happy about that. Cap hit is also too high for a 4th liner. This feels like a Burke signing.

I don't get the hysterics unless hockey fans have become so fully bought into the softening creep that is infiltrating pro sports. His possession numbers are good for this type of player. The guy is a physical specimen so he's unlikely to break down immediately. The Leafs have no such type of player in the pipeline. Free agent day you overpay to fill holes on your roster.

I wanted him on the team and I can live with 2.5. Hope Lou makes him cut his hair

Gross.

The cap hit singing, the term is terrible. There is simply no need to lock up replaceable bottom six guys with so much term.

A bonus however is that he can be used as expansion fodder. They ain't going to protect him.

On the bright side, hopefully this means we're out on Russell.

Love the player, only like the deal.

Martin is exactly what this young team needs.

Hes going to be a leader off the ice and hold his opponents accountable on the ice if they take runs at our youth.

You can be sure Matthews and Marner will fee more comfortable with someone like Matt Martin on their wing.

He's a lot better than people give him credit for. Its the guys who simply look at the stat sheets that wont fully understand his value.

too much cost and term. 2 mill is the most I'd like to pay him. 3 years is as long as I'd like to have him. One less spot for the kids.. He does fill a need, but at the same time guys like greening, rychel, lindberg could do it for us.
