Simmonds is not third liner worthy. Don’t expect much out of him.

Kerfoot is a good two-way 3C. Spezza and Engvall were great on our 4th line.

Leafs are counting on Simmonds and Vesey doing better on a better team, which is not a major stretch. We have insurance for them and Barabanov in the form of Thornton, Korshkov, Boyd, Robertson, Anderson, Petan, Malgin, Brooks, etc. I would not be surprised if we bring in one more guy for the Marlies top 9 who is also insurance.

We are just not overpaying bottom 6ers like most other teams choose to do, because we have two first lines which should be playing close to 20 minutes a night each.

I think it will be more like this:

Mikheyev - Kerfoot - Barabanov
Anderson - Thornton/Spezza - Simmonds

Basically a skilled 3rd line and gritty 4th line. Not really hard to figure out. Apparently they’re going to try Vesey in a top six role.
