Right but if Cayden Primeau was drafted by Montreal, played 3 or 4 years in the NCAA and then signed for San Jose well his development as a pro player is happening entirely with San Jose. Which is what is happening with Petruzzelli.
False...
Kevin Hayes was drafted by Chicago, given the wealth that comes with being drafted in first round and teams first selection, brought to amateur camps to train with his peers, given training tips and help, given team meal tips and help, given guidance and such...only to be shunned when time comes to sign...argue your thought that Montreal had nothing to do with his growth...like Hayes, Primeau and now Petruzzelli owe their draft teams a lot

Maybe Petruzelli ends up being a diamond in the rough? Would be nice to have a goalie actualy graduate through the system for once.
More like a quartz-crystal in the rough. If he exceeds expectations, he might amount to a backup goalie in the NHL. But that's assuming the stars align.

Genuine question... How on earth would anyone outside the front office of the team in question have any clue whether a transaction didn't happen cause they didn't have the contract space?
You are right. No one outside of the organization has any clue whether a contract space inhibits a transaction.

More like a quartz-crystal in the rough. If he exceeds expectations, he might amount to a backup goalie in the NHL. But that's assuming the stars align.
Or he ends up being a diamond in the rough, a starter, a back or even a complete bust who disappears in the black hole of hockey busts.

Hope he does well. Always had high hopes for him, the timing of his development just never seem to sync up with the Wings rebuild. Glad he's finally getting a shot, he's looked pretty good everywhere he's played.

Leafs have like no picks to throw away

It’s ok to admit Dubas isn’t that smart

How many picks did it cost to clear Kubel’s contract?

Malgin is even better than him, so is Aston-Reese.

Or.. the Leafs can just trade a player for a player? 🤯

Contract spots are only useful if you need to sign someone. Most players you sign at this point in the season have to clear waivers anyway.

If a team was in a massive bind and needed to do a deal in the next 1-2 days they'd likely get squeezed to cough up something with some value.
Sure, if a team was in a massive bind. They would likely get squeezed.

Honestly it's like posters on this site live in their own reality. They are so convinced the Leafs are absolutely terrible, have no future, Dubas sucks but don't even have basic facts straight. Sadly the Leafs losing in the playoffs has empowered people to think their awful takes have any basis in reality.
