Smart move. Adds much more mobility and offense on the back end. Abbott has never gotten back that production he had last year, losing Brennan's shot on the pp really hurt him.
TJ will be a great developmental teammate. Where is Hamilton at?
We are trading D soon....it is the only thing that makes sense....we would need a D man to move up and one to take his place.
Polak is on the move is my guess....
Abbott is as a pending UFA.Brennan was probably gonna walk this summer as he wasn't gonna get a chance to play with the big club. They got back a cheap pending RFA in Abbott back.
Abbott is as a pending UFA.
He was resigned by Edmonton last week. The only downside of this trade is that it makes it harder for d-men to compete for spots on the Marlies lineup.
nice. T.J. Brennan can put up points. He's got more potential than Spencer Abbott IMO.
I was pushing hard for the Marlies to get an OFD. They needed it badly. Percy and Loov are OK in that department but it's not their strength. Brennan is one of the best in the AHL for that.
Abbott had a rough season this year. He's a great AHL player but he's never going to be a NHL player, undersized average skater and not overly strong on the puck.
Problem is, he has more potential to put up points playing as a forward, because he has no idea how to be a dman
I'm not really sure why this reputation still holds up. He's never been a great defensive player but he improved quite a bit in that respect during his last season with the Marlies. He'd have his Gardiner/Franson-esque moments but from what I saw that year, he wasn't really a liability on the ice for the most part.Problem is, he has more potential to put up points playing as a forward, because he has no idea how to be a dman
